Would you like to contribute to the safe use of medicines and vaccines globally? We are looking for a Cloud Engineer at Uppsala Monitoring Centre (UMC). You will join a multicultural and dynamic environment with a clear focus on ensuring patient safety globally. As a Cloud Engineer, you’ll play a pivotal role in supporting this mission by safeguarding our critical IT infrastructure.

Since 1978, Uppsala Monitoring Centre (UMC) has been dedicated to developing, supporting, and expanding the field of pharmacovigilance science and practice.

As a World Health Organization (WHO) Collaborating Centre, we support work around the world to examine the potential adverse effects of medicines and vaccines and contribute to safer, more informed care of patients.

We are a diverse, international group of pharmacists, physicians, data scientists, system developers, communicators, and many other professionals motivated by a deep belief that the work we do matters.

About the role

We are seeking a Cloud Engineer to join us on our ongoing development journey. In this role, you will work collaboratively within a team to shape and improve the platform and its overarching principles, while partnering with teams across the organisation to support the development of product-specific infrastructure.

The team is continuously improving its processes, systems, and ways of working. We therefore value individuals with a strong interest in development, continuous improvement, and new ideas.

What you will do

  • Develop, maintain and operate the Azure platform landing zone, including additional shared services.
  • Manage the Azure environment – Strengthen automation and improve resilience of the system; evaluate, enhance, and enforce policies; generate compliance and security reports and activities; and optimise costs and carbon.
  • Ensure services are configured and operated according to best practices as well as the organisation’s policies.
  • Work closely with enterprise architects and the application owners to design and implement the overarching requirements, security and the platform landing zone.
  • Work in a small team where overlapping competences are required so everyone can and should work with all aspects, although areas may have appointed leads.
