Data Scientist

Pierce is a fast moving e-commerce company that need to make great decisions; quickly and often. The Insights Unit focuses on covering both functional and cross functional analytics and supports big and small business decisions on both a recurring basis and ad hoc. In this position, you will cover everything from maintenance and development of our data warehouse to analysis and insight creation. The analytics team collaborates closely with all of the functions in the organisation, which means you will be given a great opportunity to gain knowledge about all the components that make a great e-commerce company. You will report to the Head of Insights, who set the team up in 2017. By the end of 2019, the plan is to have three highly qualified members of the team.

Main tasks and opportunities

  • Support the design and implementation of fact-based strategies in a rapidly evolving environment
  • Provide recurring/self-service reports and ad hoc analysis
  • Proactively and effectively communicate data driven insights with various stakeholders, discuss the root cause of trends, assess their impact and propose solutions/optimizations
  • Support wide and narrow business objectives by providing analytical expertise in an efficient way that drive business action
  • Develop as a professional in an entrepreneurial organisation that provides opportunity to work with your areas of interest
  • Utilize analytical tools to get to the bottom of the what's, why's and how's of our data
  • Enable us to get the data to work for us, through clever automatizations

Skills & Requirements

  • B.Sc or M.Sc with a minimum of 2 years work experience
  • Experience of building and maintaining relational databases
  • SQL server, Big Query, Azure, AWS or equivalent cloud service
  • Experience with Analytics tools, e.g. Power BI, Qlik, Tableau, Excel and Google Analytics
  • Knowledge of R and Python is meriting
  • Verbal and written fluency in English

2005All started in a garage with two MX enthusiasts who wanted to change the shopping experience for their follow petrolheads.

2013XLmoto launched with a special focus on onroad motorcycle equipment. At this point a European wide presence was already built with the focus on bigger markets.

2013SledStore went live with pow passion and endless trails. SledStore is a Mecca for the Nordic snowmobile fanatics.

2016Our own European distribution center, PDC, opened their gates and storage racks to offer our customers an even bigger range, quicker deliveries and excellent service.

2017Pierce announced the acquisition of MotoBuykers, a leading Spanish e-commerce motorcycle player, to strengthen its footprint in southern Europe.

2018Pierce announced the acquisition of MX Vice, Europe's largest online community for motocross.
