Etteplan is strengthening its Advisory capabilities and is now looking for a Principal Consultant, Industrial Data and AI. In this role, you will shape early-phase client engagements and guide the journey from strategic intent to industrial, AI enabled solution implementation.

Your role
As a Principal Consultant, Industrial Data and AI, you operate at the intersection of strategy, industrial domain expertise, and applied AI. You lead early-phase engagements, helping clients frame business and operational challenges, assess data and AI maturity, and define clear priorities and roadmaps for scalable industrial AI use cases.
You act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders and ensure continuity from advisory work into implementation. In addition to client work, you contribute to sales, offering development and the long-term growth of Etteplan’s industrial AI capabilities.
Your main responibilities include:
• Leading discovery, framing, and direction setting setting engagements for industrial AI initiatives from a technology and feasibility perspective, assessing what is technically viable and scalable in real industrial environments.
• Supporting sales with insight and credibility in pre-sales and client discussions.
• Translating industrial challenges into clear AI and data driven problem statements.
• Identifying where AI, advanced analytics, and data platforms can improve equipment performance, operational efficiency, decision-making, or service models.
• Acting as a trusted, consultative partner across executive, operational, and technical stakeholders.
• Ensuring smooth transition from advisory work into implementation phases.
• Contributing to the development of industrial AI solutions and AI first ways of working.
Preferred locations for this role include Espoo and Tampere in Finland, Stockholm, Linköping, and Gothenburg in Sweden and our offices in Denmark and in the Netherlands. The role offers opportunities for international collaboration, and some travel may be required.
Your profile and ways of working
You are a senior advisor who combines strategic thinking with a strong understanding of how AI is applied in industrial contexts. You are comfortable operating in complex, ambiguous environments and bring clarity grounded in both industrial realities and technology potential.
An ideal candidate will have:
• 8+ years of experience in consulting, advisory, or similar client-facing roles.
• Strong experience with AI , data , or analytics enabled initiatives in industrial, energy, or defense environments.
• A relevant educational background, such as an MSc or PhD in Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Data and information management or a closely related field.
• Experience with industrial IT platforms, data platforms, or ML/AI solution development.
• Ability to apply technical depth selectively in advisory contexts without shifting into delivery ownership.
• Excellent communication skills across executive and operational levels.
• An AI first, future focused mindset with a clear focus on business impact.
