Since 1978, Uppsala Monitoring Centre (UMC) has been dedicated to developing, supporting, and expanding the field of pharmacovigilance science and practice.

As a World Health Organization (WHO) Collaborating Centre, we support work around the world to examine the potential adverse effects of medicines and vaccines and contribute to safer, more informed care of patients.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced, tech-savvy life science professional to join our team of Product specialists.

You will report to the Head of VigiBase and Regulatory Services.

What you will do

  • Support customers by advising on the use of the products within the product portfolios and by identifying specific customer needs to help them get the most value from their investment and use the products successfully
  • Make sure users understand the full potential of the products so they can make the best use of them
  • Support product development and life cycle management by sharing expert knowledge of customers’ experiences with the products
  • Contribute to product training materials, documentation, and marketing content
  • Work with external stakeholders such as national regulatory authorities, national immunisation programmes, and pharmaceutical industry customers, as well as internal stakeholders from different departments
  • Collaborate with WHO and member organisations in the WHO Programme for International Drug Monitoring on awareness-raising and capacity-building efforts related to the relevant products, including taking partin face-to-face and virtual training activities
  • Act as second-line support and provide sales support to ensure customer satisfaction by:
    - Answering product-related questions
    - Explaining product benefits in virtual meetings and webinars
    - Presenting and representing the portfolios at international meetings and events
    - Taking part in product demonstrations for customers, staff, and other stakeholders

Skills & Requirements

Who you are

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a BSc in a life science subject such as engineering, pharmacy, chemistry, or similar. Alternatively, another university degree combined with extensive experience in the life science field
  • Is fluent in written and spoken English
  • Has excellent communication and networking skills
  • Has at least three years experience in product support or a similar role
  • Enjoys working close to technology and collaborating with developers and technical specialists
  • Is curious about how systems work and comfortable discussing technical topics
  • Is able to travel 1-4 times a year

It is an advantage if you:

  • Have documented experience in software support or similar work in the life science field (regulatory or pharmaceutical industry)
  • Know additional languages (eg French, Arabic, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian)
  • Have experience in intercultural communication
  • Have experience in MedDRA coding from a regulatory or industry perspective

About the company

Uppsala Monitoring Centre (UMC) is an independent, self-funded, non-profit foundation established in 1978 dedicated to safer use of medicines and vaccines. Through an agreement between the Government of Sweden and the World Health Organization (WHO), UMC operates the Programme for International Drug Monitoring, supporting over 180 member countries and regions in strengthening safety surveillance, and maintains VigiBase, the WHO global database of adverse event reports. In addition, UMC provides international standards and related digital solutions for secure exchange of pharmacovigilance data, including a global medicine and vaccine terminology for identification of medicinal products. With around 200 staff, UMC advances the science of pharmacovigilance and transforms its practice through technological innovation.
