We serve large global enterprises across 100+ countries, processing billions of transactions annually. We are now deeply embedding AI across our platform — from intelligent document processing and agentic workflows to predictive compliance — and this role sits at the heart of that transformation.

We are looking for a Senior / Principal Platform Architect to own and evolve the technical vision and architecture of our invoice automation and compliance platform.

In this role, you will design and drive the architecture of a multi-tenant SaaS platform, ensuring it is scalable, secure, and compliant across global markets. You will help customers streamline invoice processing, meet regulatory requirements, and stay ahead of rapidly evolving digital compliance standards — including emerging AI-driven approaches to fraud prevention, document intelligence, and autonomous processing.

As a senior individual contributor, you will work hands-on with product and engineering teams to make concrete architectural decisions and guide implementation of a high-scale, cloud-native product platform, with AI/ML capabilities embedded as first-class concerns.

Your architecture will influence:

• How enterprises comply with rapidly changing global e-invoicing and tax regulations
• How fraud is detected and prevented before money moves — using ML pipelines, anomaly detection, and agentic systems
• How finance teams trust automation at massive scale through explainable, governed AI
• How intelligent document processing, RAG-powered knowledge retrieval, and LLM-based workflows reduce manual effort across the invoice lifecycle

What You'll Do

Platform Architecture

• Own the end-to-end technical architecture of Basware's invoice automation platform — ensuring coherence, scalability, and long-term maintainability across a multi-tenant SaaS product

• Make and communicate concrete architectural decisions covering feature evolution, API design, data pipelines, event-driven systems, and microservice boundaries

• Define and govern architectural standards; lead architectural review processes across product and engineering teams

• Identify technical risk, debt, and opportunities for platform simplification and consolidation

AI & ML Platform Strategy

• Define and drive the architectural approach for embedding AI across the platform, including:

• Intelligent document processing and structured data extraction using LLMs and OCR grounding

• Agentic workflows for autonomous invoice routing, exception handling, and compliance checks

• RAG pipelines for regulatory knowledge retrieval and policy-aware decision support

• Vector stores and semantic search for supplier matching, duplicate detection, and fraud signals

• ML pipelines for anomaly detection, risk scoring, and cash flow forecasting

• Own the MLOps architecture: model training pipelines, versioning, deployment, monitoring, drift detection, and continuous evaluation

• Evaluate and select AI frameworks and tooling; build internal knowledge around responsible experimentation and production readiness

AI Governance & Compliance

• Establish AI governance frameworks covering model quality, explainability, bias detection, data privacy, and regulatory compliance — aligned with NIST AI RMF, ISO/IEC 42001, and EU AI Act requirements where applicable

• Define standards for responsible AI deployment in a regulated financial automation context — including PII protection, auditability, and model transparency

• Drive standardised approaches to model lifecycle management across product teams

Strategic Partnership

• Partner with product management and engineering leadership to translate architecture into roadmap — ensuring technical decisions are grounded in customer outcomes

• Represent Basware's platform architecture in customer-facing conversations, partner discussions, and regulatory engagements

• Mentor engineers and elevate architectural thinking across product teams; contribute to communities of practice
