The SCC Arbitration Institute welcomes a trainee to join the Secretariat at our premises in central Stockholm. This is a full-time, paid traineeship.

As a trainee at the SCC, you will contribute to the daily work of the Secretariat through a variety of tasks, including:

  • Conducting legal research related to SCC cases and drafting case summaries for SCC Board meetings.
  • Analysing SCC practice.
  • Writing articles and providing overviews regarding arbitration, SCC's work, and procedures.
  • Assisting in organizing events and meetings.
  • Other projects at the SCC.

During the traineeship, you will gain valuable insight into our work and the cases we handle. You will have the opportunity to participate in board meetings and events organised by or in collaboration with the SCC. Our Secretariat is led by a Secretary General and a Deputy Secretary General, supported by legal counsel and case administrators who oversee the administration of cases.

By joining our team, you will develop your skills in legal research, analysis, and drafting. You will also have the chance to engage with experts in the field and gain hands-on experience in the day-to-day operations of an international arbitration institution.

We consider applicants based on the following criteria:

  • You have completed, or are close to completing, a law degree. Further postgraduate studies in international arbitration or commercial dispute resolution are considered an asset.
  • You have experience in international or domestic dispute resolution. Work as an associate at an international law firm is considered an asset.
  • You have demonstrated a strong interest in international arbitration and knowledge in the field, for example through publications or participation in relevant moot courts.
  • You are fluent in English, both spoken and written. Fluency in any other language is an advantage.

Conditions

  • Period: 24 August – 31 December 2026.
  • Full-time and paid.
  • The traineeship is individually designed with an average workweek of 37.5 hours, and trainees are expected to be present in the office daily.
  • If you are from outside the EU, it is your responsibility to obtain the necessary visas and work permits.
  • During your traineeship, you must take leave from any other employers you may have.
