Are you our new underwriter with a strong network in the marine industry across Norway, and Sweden?
We are looking for an ambitious Underwriter / Senior Underwriter to join our Oslo team and help strengthen our presence in the region.
In this role, you will handle P&I and Hull underwriting for our Members and Clients in Norway and Sweden.
You will represent our full product range in the market, identify and assess new risks, and negotiate renewals.
This is a role for someone who enjoys building strong relationships, whether meeting clients and prospects across the region or collaborating closely with colleagues in our global team.

Skills & Requirements
Key responsibilities:
- Enter and renew contracts of insurance on behalf of Gard.
- Identify, review and assess risks faced by our clients to offer appropriate risk management solutions.
- Develop and maintain relationships with clients and brokers and be an integral part of Gard’s business development.
- Be a Gard ambassador ensuring our partners get access to relevant underwriting, claims, loss prevention and risk management information and service.
- Monitor and analyze the performance of the portfolio.
- Share knowledge, information and experience across Gard’s global organisation.
About you:
- You have a minimum of 5-10 years’ relevant experience from the shipping and/or marine insurance industry.
- Strong decision-making skills and the ability to work independently.
- A solution- and results-oriented mindset, who thrives in fast-paced environments and brings valuable, hands-on insight into the marine industry.
- A well-established professional network in the Oslo region of Norway, and Sweden, is advantage but not a requirement.
- Solid understanding of the marine industry and its risk landscape. Experience from P&I and Hull underwriting would be considered as an advantage.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues and clients.
- Highly motivated to learn as well as share knowledge.
- Enjoy working as a part of a team and across departments.
- A good command of written and spoken English is required.
