Role? As Senior Engineering Manager – Data Platform, you’ll provide senior engineering leadership for teams building and operating core data platform capabilities that support analytics, AI, and product development across Vend.

Tech stack? Large-scale data platforms with technologies like Kafka, Snowflake, cloud-native data tooling, and modern data governance practices.

WHO ARE YOU?

• Senior Engineering Manager experience leading teams within a data platform or data-intensive platform domain
• Strong technical background in data engineering, distributed systems, or platform engineering
• Product-minded leader who enjoys close collaboration with Product Managers
• Systems thinker with experience aligning teams around shared outcomes and long-term direction
• Clear communicator and stakeholder manager, comfortable working with senior leadership
• Experience with large-scale data platforms, including streaming, governance, and cloud-native tooling

WHAT’S THE JOB LIKE?

You’ll provide senior engineering leadership within Vend’s Data Platform domain, ensuring the data lifecycle — from integration and streaming to discovery, access, and governance — is reliable, scalable, and self-serve by default.

Day-to-day, you will

• Provide engineering leadership across the Data Platform domain
• Set a shared technical and operational direction across the data lifecycle
• Partner closely with Product Managers and Area Leadership to shape and execute the platform roadmap
• Provide architectural leadership, ensuring consistency, quality, and long-term sustainability
• Balance delivery, reliability, governance, and cost across the platform
• Grow and support engineers through coaching, performance management, and career development
• Lead with clarity and care, balancing clear direction and accountability with trust, development, and thoughtful people leadership

Key areas you’ll work with

• Translating the Self-Serve Data Platform strategy into concrete, sequenced delivery plans
• Simplifying the platform by consolidating overlapping capabilities and retiring legacy paths
• Improving discoverability, documentation, and trust in data products
• Embedding governance, security, and compliance directly into platform workflows

You’ll work closely with Product Managers, Engineering Leadership, Data Consumers, and Platform teams across Vend.
