Gard (North America) Inc., the New York office of the Norwegian based P&I Club Gard, is seeking an experienced U.S. lawyer to fill the position of Senior Claims Advisor (SCA) in the People Claims team. The SCA role is a professional and global position focusing on personal injury matters within the Gard claims organization. The role includes responsibility for a number of large and complex claims, reporting to the Head of People Claims, as well as advising and guiding other claims handlers on strategic claims handling issues. Other responsibilities include contributing to the professional development of claims handlers, representing Gard in member/client/broker meetings as well as other industry fora.
SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS
The successful applicants must be well-versed in U.S. legal proceedings, have significant maritime personal injury experience, and be admitted to at least one state bar.
They should possess strong written and oral communication skills, with high presentation and negotiation capabilities.
Applicants will have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to structure, deliver and perform work independently. At the same time, they will contribute in a bustling team oriented working environment.
