Job Description


The Stars work where the Northern Lights sleep and the Midnight Sun wakes up!

As Head Chef at Nordkapphallen or one of our Scandic Hotels you will be responsible for leading your team of between 5 and 15 team members to new heights in the kitchen. Whether on the dinner- or breakfast buffets at the hotels or the a la carte restaurant at Nordkapphallen or anything in between you will be in charge of managing and maintaining the quality, service and cleanliness that is so important to our many visitors.

You will be hands on in the kitchen and working closely with F&B Manager and Restaurant Manager, while reporting to the Operations Manager. The position is part administrative and part operational.

You will also be responsible for:

  • Motivating and inspiring your team
  • Orders, inventory and cost control
  • Internal controls in adherence to Scandic standards and local laws
  • Ensure the lowest possible waste of food
  • Ensure laws regarding health, environment and safety are upheld
  • General personnel duties

We are also looking for experenced chefs for our A la Carte and Buffet restaurants

Skills & Requirements

As Scandic Destination Nordkapp is the host of visitors from all over the world all team members must speak and write English. Any applicants with oral skills in any Scandinavian language will be prioritized. Please also note any other language skills you have in your application.

All our team members involved in preparing food must adhere to the highest organizational, hygiene, health and safety standards. It is further required that you show the necessary competence and knowledge of catering to varying dietary requirements.

  • Previous experience in a similar role is required

  • General understanding of economically sustainable restaurant operations

This position is seasonal, starting in the period of early May to mid-May 2019, ending in the period to mid-August to mid-September 2019, with the possibility of extension. Specific dates depend on which hotel you work at. The position will also require work in evenings, weekends and public holidays.
