Quality Warehouse Team Lead

This position reports to Quality Assurance Manager and will work in Elkhart, IN.

About the position

The Quality Warehouse Team Lead is responsible for daily execution, compliance, and control of Quality Warehouse 35177 operations. This role ensures physical layout discipline, process adherence, and accurate inventory management for QA Hold, Inspection/QWO, Rework, QA Review, and final disposition activities. The position serves as the single point of accountability for enforcing quality warehouse controls.

Your main responsibilities

Process Management:

  • Own daily execution of Quality WH 35177 operations and enforce approved process flow.
  • Ensure all material movements are authorized, documented, and compliant with Quality procedures.
  • Maintain strict control of warehouse zones: QA Hold, Inspection/QWO, Rework, QA Review, Released, Scrap/RTV.
  • Execute and verify accurate ERP (D365) inventory transactions.
  • Lead and coordinate warehouse personnel assigned to Quality activities.
  • Train team members on Quality procedures, work instructions, and safety requirements.
  • Serve as primary escalation point for Segment Quality Assurance, Warehouse Operations, and Supply Chain.
  • Perform routine audits and zone checks to ensure compliance.
  • Support investigations of nonconforming material and inventory discrepancies.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce rework, delays, and risk.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all rework requests, including internal QA/QC findings, customer returns (RMA), Sales and engineering change requests.
  • Evaluate and assess the scope of each rework request to determine feasibility, resource needs, and timeline.
  • Develop and implement standardized procedures for the rework process, ensuring consistency, compliance, and efficiency.
  • Create and manage rework plans, including steps, tools, documentation, and responsible parties.
  • Coordinate cross-functional communication with Segment Quality Assurance, Production, Engineering, Inventory Control, Sales and Customer Service.

Planning & Execution:

  • Prioritize rework jobs based on urgency, business impact, and resource availability.
  • Allocate and schedule resources (people, tools, materials, workstations) to execute rework efficiently.
  • Monitor progress to ensure timely completion, resolving issues as they arise.
  • Perform hands-on rework tasks as needed, especially for complex or sensitive jobs.

Documentation & Compliance:

  • Maintain accurate records of rework requests, root causes, actions taken, labor hours, and materials used.
  • Ensure that reworked products comply with applicable quality standards, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective action implementation in collaboration with QA and Engineering.
  • Provide detailed rework reports to management and relevant stakeholders.

People & Training:

  • Train rework technicians and operators on proper methods, tools, and documentation requirements.
  • Supervise team members, providing daily directions, performance feedback, and coaching.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, quality focus, and continuous improvement.
  • Continuous Improvement:
  • Analyze rework trends to identify patterns and recurring issues.
  • Recommend and lead initiatives to reduce rework volume and improve upstream processes.
  • Participate in quality and process improvement teams.

Skills & Requirements

A suitable background would be a solid experience within xxx and xxx – as well as the following qualifications and experiences:

  • High School Diploma or GED required, additional education a plus.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing, repair, or quality-focused environment.
  • Prior supervisory or team lead experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, quality systems, and root cause analysis.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents, engineering drawings, and rework instructions.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding reading and recording current amperage and temperature.
  • Basic understanding of HVAC preferred.
  • Basic electrical knowledge with 120V AC and 12V DC preferred.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Common knowledge and usage of the following tools and various testing equipment:
    • 110 Power
    • 12 V Power
    • Voltmeter
    • Vacuum Pump for removing R134A and R410A
    • Propane
    • Multi Meter
    • Pressure Gauge
    • Screw Gun
    • Sniffer For Coolant Leak
    • Hi Pot Tester
    • Die Injector
  • Computer skills using ERP/MRP systems in a manufacturing environment.
  • Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time, lift to 40 lbs. and perform other basic physical demands of the position as needed.

To be successful in this role, we believe that you possess the following skills, competencies & characteristics:

  • Work is performed in a production/manufacturing environment with moderate noise levels.
  • Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs., standing/walking for extended periods.
  • Some off-shift or weekend work may be required based on rework volume.
  • Effective English written and verbal communication skills and the ability to follow orders and flexibility to perform additional tasks required
