For over 35 years, F-Secure has led the cybersecurity industry with our 200+ service provider partners. As the home of scam protection, we're reimagining how we protect people from modern threats through cutting-edge scam detection and solutions that are setting the industry standard. We bring together the sharpest minds of cyber security with a shared purpose: to protect people from modern threats. Here, you’ll have a real impact, making every digital moment more secure for everyone. You’ll thrive and grow in our Fellowship culture, where we dream big, trust, and challenge each other to deliver results and move with speed. You’ll be welcomed into a diverse, global team with an informal and collaborative culture where your voice truly matters.
Join us in securing the digital world together – where your work will make a lasting impact.

Join F-Secure's Technology Organization for a summer of real engineering work that protects millions of users. As one of 13+ engineering trainees, you will work on actual products and systems—building security features, developing software components, managing cloud infrastructure, or creating data pipelines. This is not an observation traineeship: you will write code that goes live, build systems that handle real traffic, and solve problems that matter.
At F-Secure, we are inventing with AI, not just using it. You will see how we build AI into our products to detect threats and improve user experiences, always asking “what can we create with this?”
You will learn from experienced engineers who care about both security and quality code. Our culture values continuous learning, giving people autonomy to make decisions, and working together through practices like pair programming. We maintain quality in our products while giving you space to experiment and learn from mistakes. because innovation comes from trying new things and learning from what doesn’t work.
Beyond the technical work, you'll join a cohort of fellow trainees navigating their first 'real' engineering roles together—learning from each other's mistakes, sharing small victories, and building friendships that often outlast the summer. We also organize shared activities throughout the summer to help you connect across different teams.
The hiring teams are based in Finland, with offices in Helsinki and Oulu (exception: One role in FSSDK Unit). Remote work is flexible, and teams typically meet at the office about once a week for co-working and team time. During onboarding and your first weeks, we strongly recommend working from the office to get the most out of mentoring and peer support. Due to the fixed-term nature of these roles, we do not sponsor relocations for the summer trainee positions.
The traineeship lasts 3–5 months, depending on the role and nature of the work, with start dates typically in April or at the end of May.
Who we are looking for
We are seeking 3rd–5th year university students with a passion for technology and problem solving. We also welcome students from non-traditional study backgrounds such as coding bootcamps, Hive, and other alternative tech education programs. Previous experience from internships, personal projects, or open-source contributions is beneficial but not required—we value curiosity, learning ability, and technical potential.
Available positions across five Technology units
We are hiring summer trainees across five units within our Technology Organization. During the application process, we’ll ask about your interests, current technical skills, studies, and whether you’re interested in continuing after the summer. Based on this, we’ll match you with the team that best fits your profile. Some positions may offer opportunities to continue working part-/full-time or through thesis project after the summer period. If you’re interested in this, please mention it in your application.
Please note that we may not be able to answer detailed role-specific questions during the application phase. You’ll learn more about the roles, teams, and expectations in your first interview with us.
Total Product Line
Total Product Line builds F-Secure's consumer security products for iOS, Android, and desktop. We release updates regularly, integrate with app stores and partner systems, and constantly improve our protection against new threats. Our work reaches millions of users who depend on us to keep them safe online.
We’re hiring four trainees to join Total Product Line. The work spans different focus areas within the team, depending on your interests and background.
Focus areas may include:
Tech: AWS, CDK/Terraform, Docker, GitHub Actions, CI/CD tools, monitoring tools, Jenkins, SwiftUI, Kotlin, Python
Platform Engineering
Platform Engineering builds and runs the cloud platforms and shared services that F-Secure teams use every day. We work with cloud infrastructure, backend services, and developer tools so product teams can focus on building features instead of managing infrastructure.
Our systems are built using DevOps and SRE practices, with a strong focus on automation, CI/CD, reliability, and security. The platforms we run handle millions of requests daily and are a key part of how F-Secure operates.
We’re hiring three Platform Engineering Trainees to join the team. You’ll work on real production systems while learning how modern platforms are built and run. Depending on your interests, you may focus more on backend services or cloud infrastructure—but all roles are hands-on and learning-focused.
You’ll work closely with experienced engineers and gradually take on more responsibility as you learn.
Tech: AWS, Terraform, GitHub Actions, Python, CI/CD tools, and basic observability tools
FSSDK Product Line
FSSDK Product Line develops software libraries and components that enable security features across our products and platforms. We build the foundational technology that powers protection capabilities in mobile apps, desktop applications, and web browsers. Our work requires deep technical expertise across platforms, strong coding practices, and understanding how our components integrate into larger product ecosystems.
We’re hiring three trainees to join FSSDK Product Line. The work focuses on building reusable components that are used across multiple products and platforms.
Focus areas may include:
Tech: Swift, SwiftUI, Objective-C, C/C++ (iOS); Java, Kotlin (Android); TypeScript, JavaScript, React, browser extension APIs (Chrome / Firefox / Safari), Node.js, Express.js, Docker, PostgreSQL, Redis, web security and encryption concepts
Engineering Excellence and Enablement
Engineering Excellence and Enablement supports product management and technology teams in agile and lean product creation. Our aim is to collect and connect data across F-Secure to provide valuable insights that make product creation even leaner. We are a small but impactful team that influences how hundreds of engineers work across F-Secure through better data, tooling, and visualization.
We’re hiring one trainee to join the team, focusing on data analysis and tooling that supports product and engineering decision-making.
Focus areas may include:
Tech: JQL (Jira Query Language), Jira (including plugins), Power BI, Excel functions, data processing and visualization tools
Chief Architecture Office
The Chief Architecture Office builds and maintains F-Secure’s Data Platform, which powers our security intelligence. We create systems that collect, store, and analyze large volumes of security data to help detect threats and protect users.
Our platforms are designed to handle data at scale, processing billions of security events. We focus on reliable, scalable data pipelines that support threat intelligence, product teams, and business insights across F-Secure.
We’re hiring two Data Platform Trainees to join the team. You’ll work on real production data pipelines while learning how large-scale data platforms are built and operated. The role is hands-on and learning-focused.
You’ll work closely with experienced data engineers and gradually take on more responsibility as you grow.
Tech: Python, SQL, Git, Kafka, Databricks / Spark, AWS, and modern data platform tools and concepts
