Job Description

Zenniz builds the future of tennis with innovative smart court technology, and they are now looking for a Software Engineer to join the forces to build and develop their backend infrastructure. If you are a hands-on engineer with a passion for learning and implementing modern technologies, working with pioneering products, and you enjoy sports, this could be your opportunity!

The Zenniz smart court system and the accompanying service help tennis players, coaches, and clubs with automatic line calls, match statistics, video analysis, and gamified drills. The technical team of ten professionals is continuously developing the system and including features relating to some of the hottest trends such as gamification and live streaming. The cloud infrastructure enables automated software updates for multiple platforms - mobile app for players, web app for tennis clubs, as well as the central units and cameras on the courts.

In this role, you will be building the backbone of the world's leading smart tennis court system. You will develop and build the engine that powers both the on-court hardware and the off-court apps. After getting onboard of the current cloud structure, your daily work will resolve around developing the current solution and infrastructure, ensuring that as we scale into more countries, our data pipeline remains performant, secure and resilient. This is an independent role, but you will be working closely with the rest of the technical team, bouncing development ideas back and forth. However, in the future, Zenniz aims to grow the technical team even further, offering you a chance to take over a lead role.

Zenniz’ tech stack includes technologies such as Flutter, Tailscale, Go, Google Cloud, and Firebase, but we do not necessarily expect you to have experience with these specific technologies. The key to success in this position is the ability to build and run software infrastructure that is capable of handling thousands of users on and off the court. We also hope you are tech agnostic, willing to learn and try out new technologies to find the best match for Zenniz needs. Most importantly, we are looking for a passionate tech professional with a vision and insight into different technologies and solutions.

We welcome candidates with various levels of expertise to apply, and the title will be tailored according to your experience.

Zenniz offers you:

  • Significant personal impact on the business, users and the products Zenniz is building
  • Position to make a global impact on the future of racket sports
  • Freedom and responsibility - The team is in control of how they work and what tools and technologies they use
  • Supportive and friendly work environment of ambitious sport enthusiasts and technical professionals
  • Future career opportunities towards a lead role according to your interests
  • Competitive salary and benefits in addition to perks and company sponsored activities - such as weekly tennis coaching
  • Possibility for stock options

We hope you to have:

  • Some relevant experience in software development, preferably in backend
  • Understanding of some main cloud platforms and databases
  • Great attention to technical quality, willingness to test and improve your own work, and ability to take ownership of your work
  • Readiness and flexibility to work in a startup environment
  • Enthusiasm towards tennis or other sports
  • Proficiency in English language

We consider as an asset:

  • Finnish language skills
  • Experience of building and running cloud infrastructure

Practicalities:

In this full-time and permanent position you will be employed directly to Zenniz. The start time in the role is as soon as possible. The technical team is working in a hybrid model, approximately 50% of the week at the office, and we hope you have the willingness and availability to work at the Helsinki office too. Salary in this position is approximately 4000-6000 €/month and will be negotiated based on your skills and experience.
