We’re building a new cloud-focused team in Slovakia and are looking for a Lead Cloud Engineer to shape how we design, run, and evolve our cloud services.

This role sits right at the intersection of hands-on engineering, technical leadership, and architecture. In the beginning, you’ll be close to the details—keeping existing services healthy while the team comes together. Over time, you’ll increasingly lead solution design, technology choices, and implementation work.

If it makes sense for you, this role can also grow into an engineering manager position for a small team (around four engineers). You can work remotely, drop by our Bratislava office when it makes sense, and if relocation is on your mind, we’re happy to support that too.

About the team

The Slovakia team is part of a larger product unit responsible for building and maintaining security-critical components used across F-Secure’s products and services. The work spans cloud services, platform components, and integrations that support protection features used by millions of users. You won’t be working in isolation—this is a role with real influence across teams and technologies.

Key responsibilities in this role:

• Take ownership of how our cloud services are designed, built, and maintained, with a strong focus on reliability, security, and long-term sustainability
• Lead technical design and architecture work across teams, balancing product needs, cost, risk, and operational impact
• Drive the evolution of our cloud setup from container-based solutions toward standard AWS infrastructure services using Terraform
• Stay hands-on: maintaining existing services, digging into production issues, and guiding implementations when needed
• Write, review, and communicate complex technical requirements, system designs, and risk assessments
• Lead effort estimations, dependency analysis, and technical refinements (yes, Jira is part of life)
• Build and promote a strong engineering culture—clear ownership, realistic planning, and quality over heroics
• Work closely with product, security, and other engineering teams to manage security risks in a pragmatic way

What are we looking for?

• Solid experience working with cloud infrastructure and production systems, ideally in AWS
• Strong background with Docker and Kubernetes, and interest in evolving toward more managed cloud services
• Experience using Infrastructure as Code, especially Terraform
• Confidence in leading technical design discussions and making architecture decisions that hold up over time
• Ability to zoom in and out: from deep technical details to big-picture trade-offs
• Clear communicator who’s comfortable working in a global, hybrid setup
• Previous experience leading engineers or acting as a technical lead is a strong plus
• Full professional proficiency in English
