Business Sweden in Tokyo is now looking for a results-oriented and driven Japanese-speaking and industry experienced Investment Advisor to strengthen our investment promotion efforts across a range of cutting-edge industries.

Sweden has emerged as a strategic destination for Japanese companies in sector industries such as battery, circular materials, energy tech, digital technologies, life science, smart transportation, and capital invest. These industries are essential to the future of both economies – and ripe for deeper collaboration.
As Investment Advisor, you will lead efforts to identify, develop, and convert strategic investment opportunities, helping Japanese companies partner with or expand into Sweden.
The role includes both strategic, tactic and operational responsibilities such as:
- Business development: Engage with leading Japanese companies across multiple industries. Understand their strategic objectives and present investment opportunities in Sweden that align with their long-term goals.
- Client relationship management: Build and manage a senior-level client network. Initiate meetings, arrange site visits, and drive the full investment process from interest to establishment.
- Global collaboration: Work closely with Business Sweden’s investment promotion teams in Stockholm and across the APAC region, as well as with Swedish regional partners, clusters, and innovation hubs.
- Strategic positioning: Help position Sweden as a top-tier destination for industrial and sustainable investments through targeted dialogues, events, and sector-specific campaigns.
The role is based in Tokyo, but you will be expected to work with our teams and clients around the world, as required. You will be part of a dedicated team working at the intersection of international business and diplomacy. The role includes travel within Japan and occasional travel to Sweden and the region. Probationary employment applies in accordance with local regulations.

Formal requirements
- At least 10 years of relevant industry experience in Japan with relevant network, from one or several of the industries battery, circular materials, energy tech, digital technologies, life science, smart transportation, capital invest or related organisations, e.g. industry associations
- A wide contact network across various industries
- You have experience from working in an international environment, company, or even a similar position from other investment promotion organisations
- A strong ability to identify investment opportunities from scratch with new clients and existing clients to build a strong pipeline of investments from Japan
- Previous experience from deal making and due diligence processes
- Fluency in Japanese and English is strictly required
