Main goal

The Safety and Security Expert will play a pivotal role in strengthening UEFA’s safety and security capabilities. This position involves managing projects, collaborating extensively with stakeholders and actively helping to shape and implement a strategic approach to safety and security for UEFA competition matches and final tournaments.

Key responsibilities

  • Acting as a project manager for events of importance to the Safety & Security Operations unit
  • Advising on venue and event safety and security planning, infrastructure and operations
  • Negotiating with external partners to reach solutions compatible with UEFA's regulatory and policy framework
  • Attending meetings and representing the Safety & Security Operations unit
  • Liaising with UEFA security officers, internal departments, football clubs, national associations and law enforcement agencies to facilitate collaboration
  • Developing internal standard procedures
  • Helping to review safety and security matters in UEFA regulations
  • Contributing to the preparation of bespoke reports for internal and external stakeholders
  • Training and developing UEFA and national association safety and security officers to ensure that their performance is up to standard and in line with UEFA's core values
  • Monitoring international safety and security developments to identify areas for improvement and innovation

Skills & Requirements

Requirements

Experience:

  • Minimum 10 years' experience working in safety and security within a law enforcement agency, club or national association and able to provide references from previous employers
  • Several years of experience in safety and security project management, ideally within a sports, law enforcement or international organisation
  • Experience in multi-agency coordination, venue risk assessments and operational command during major sports events
  • Experience managing safety at major football events and tournaments
  • Experience delivering training related to safety and security at events

Education:

  • A safety management certification or diploma or equivalent

Languages:

  • English / Proficient
  • Any additional European languages are an asset

Other requirements:

  • Proactive and adaptable, able to respond quickly to evolving situations and shifting priorities
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, high-risk environment
  • Experience working with international sports governing bodies on safety and security would be advantageous
