The Autonomous driving Hardware Component team is responsible for specifying, validating, and being part of the development and procurement of critical autonomous driving hardware components for our Autonomous Vehicle platform. This includes sensors like Radar, Lidar, and Cameras, as well as high-performance compute units and other essential sensing and processing hardware. As an Engineering Manager, you will lead a small, high-impact team of talented engineers, fostering a culture of technical rigor, supplier management excellence, and high performance. The team will increase in size in the near future and hence a tight collaboration with talent acquisition will be needed.

You will:

• Manage and coach a team of five hardware and component engineers, supporting their career growth and skill development, and managing team workload and output.
• Partner with Autonomous Driving (AD) and Vehicle Platform teams to define hardware specifications, manage the technical roadmap for component integration, and ensure high-quality, timely sourcing and delivery of components.
• Drive the technical relationship with key hardware suppliers, oversee the component validation process, and collaborate with procurement team to secure necessary contracts and supply chains.
• Drive best practices in component specification, integration, testing, and lifecycle management to ensure a scalable and robust hardware foundation for the autonomous fleet.
• Play a key role in recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding new engineering talent to expand the team's capabilities, especially in niche component areas.
• Foster an inclusive, collaborative, and results-oriented environment where team members feel empowered to take ownership and innovate within a complex supply chain environment.
• Work with other engineering managers within and outside the department to establish and improve way of working for better collaboration.

We expect you to have:

• Solid background as a successful engineering manager or technical lead with experience managing a team.
• Strong technical foundation in Autonomous Vehicle Hardware Components such as Sensors and Compute, with the ability to dive into complex technical discussions regarding sensor performance, integration, and hardware architecture. Experience in component sourcing, validation, or supplier technical management is highly valued.
• Proven track record of shipping complex projects and motivating teams to achieve ambitious goals, particularly projects involving external suppliers and cross-functional hardware/software integration.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, conflict resolution, and stakeholder management skills, especially when interacting with external component suppliers.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field or equivalent practical experience.
