Main goal

The Pitch Programmes Coordinator assists the UEFA Football Services and Match Operations teams with the delivery of pitch quality support programmes for club competitions and the final tournaments of youth and senior national team competitions.

Key responsibilities

  • Supporting Football Services with pitch quality support programmes for final tournaments (men's, women's and U21 EUROs among others): selection of pitches to be added to the catalogue of team base camps and transfer training centres; management of stakeholder relations (local organising structure, venues and external pitch consultants), including regular catch-up meetings; generation of reports, action points and follow-up; on-site presence and site visits; all associated admin, including filing and budget management
  • Supporting pitch quality management programmes for the UEFA Women’s Champions League and Europa Cup, up to and including the finals, holding regular monitoring meetings with the appointed pitch experts, reporting to competition management and venue directors, filing and actioning visits, follow-up and budget management
  • Supporting pitch quality for youth tournaments, including competition and venue matters, admin, selection of consultants and competition management support
  • Dealing with pitch-related questions and follow-up with UEFA member associations and clubs participating in UEFA competitions (internal UEFA knowledge hub)
  • Creating and contributing to documents, guidelines and manuals on cross-competition and cross-unit pitch matters and advising on pitch matters
  • Processing supplier invoices, filing, sharing reports and performing other administrative tasks

Skills & Requirements

Requirements

Experience

  • At least three years' experience as a groundskeeper at an elite professional club and/or as a pitch consultant providing support and advice on matters of pitch construction and maintenance
  • Experience working with national teams or professional clubs and stadium managers and operators
  • Experience of managing complex projects including structured timelines, client relationship management and prioritisation

Education

  • Qualification in sports turf management or similar from a recognised university, college or professional organisation

Languages

  • Proficient in English
  • Another European language would be a strong asset

Other

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Professional approach to interactions with people in authority and team representatives
  • Strong expertise in and passion for European football, including UEFA and domestic competitions and leagues
  • Cultural sensitivity and experience in working with diverse nationalities and backgrounds
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Teams
  • Willingness to travel extensively
