Job Summary:
The PR Director will drive the company’s public relations strategy in Nigeria, managing media relations and stakeholder communications to build trust amid skepticism. Based in Lagos, this role reports to the CMO and focuses on transparent, community-driven narratives to highlight the company’s private-funded model (no gov’t capex) and partnerships (e.g., UBEC, NatCom). The director will align global PR strategies with local execution, working with Omnicom (London) and Nigerian firms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute PR strategies, including press releases, media briefings, and endorsements (e.g., Gov. Eno, Minister of Education) to counter “scam” perceptions and highlight transparency (audits, JSC/TWGs).
  • Collaborate with Omnicom (London) on global PR frameworks, adapting for Nigerian media (e.g., Punch, Vanguard) and local languages (Hausa, Yoruba).
  • Manage crisis communications, monitoring sentiment on platforms like X to address misinformation and drive 70% positive coverage by Q2 2026.
  • Coordinate with local agencies for PR campaigns, events (e.g., town halls), and influencer partnerships (e.g., “Builder of the Month”) to boost social proof.
  • Engage stakeholders (gov’t, NAPPS, UBA) to address implementation concerns (e.g., bureaucracy) via transparent updates.
  • Track PR metrics (impressions, sentiment) to inform post-funding end-user strategies (April 2026).

Skills & Requirements

    Qualifications:

    • A master’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, or related field from a European or U.S. institution (e.g., MA from UCL, NYU).
    • 10+ years in PR at a major global PR firm (e.g., Edelman, Weber Shandwick, Ketchum), with crisis management experience in high-stakes or emerging markets.
    • Willingness to relocate to Lagos, Nigeria, if currently residing outside.
    • Expertise in cross-cultural PR strategies, collaborating with global (Omnicom) and local Nigerian teams.
    • Fluency in English; local language proficiency (e.g., Yoruba, Hausa) advantageous.
    • Must be open to frequent nationwide travel
