Indirect Purchasing Manager

Northvolt has an exciting job offer for an Indirect Purchasing Manager to join our stellar and passionate team in Stockholm.

In joining us you will play an important part from the very start in building one of the first large scale European battery factories. Northvolt will play an important role in the transformation to a carbon free society.

The overall mission is to  plan, organize, direct, negotiate and manage the timely and cost effective agreements between Northvolt and external vendors.

  • Participates in the collaboration with business colleagues including Finance, Strategy, Construction, Engineering in the execution of procurement strategies

  • Evaluates and recommends selection of suppliers in terms of quality, service, cost and capability.

  • Ensures competitive pricing and service model versus value proposition, industry trends and market place dynamics.

  • Participates in supplier relationship management initiatives. Identifies and drives continuous improvement. Oversees contract implementation and supplier performance/interaction; involved with resolving operational issues.

Technical Scope is external contract services, IT services, Consulting Services, Security Services, Travel and Transportation (airlines, ground mobility), Facilities, Logistics.

Key Responsibilities and Deliverables include:

  • Consult with internal stakeholders to facilitate well defined scopes of work with clear deliverables.

  • Understand market dynamics, labor rates/market rates, etc. that impact assigned categories.

  • Implement commodity strategies which may include development of commodity strategy, by understanding the market dynamics, labor rates/market rates, etc. that impact assigned categories.

  • Negotiate terms & conditions and compose agreements.

  • Lead supplier selection processes, leveraging the use of auction tools, RFIs, RFPs, RFQs to optimize the procurement process.

  • Lead supplier relationship management to drive delivery of best in class performance and innovative products and services. 

  • Negotiate and deliver savings to meet business requirements and procurement organization objectives.

  • Consistently examine opportunities to create leveraged agreements, as appropriate.

  • Identify areas of risk related to assigned categories and solutions for mitigation.

  • Resolve supplier performance issues.

  • Lead and enable effective resolution of emergency sourcing needs.

  • Calculate and report accomplishments in all appropriate systems.

Skills & Requirements

Education/Experience

  • Masters degree with preferred focus on Sourcing & Logistics, and/or equivalent work experience

  • 5 -10 years demonstrated procurement experience required

  • Knowledge of engineering and management consulting services, travel categories required

  • Experience in negotiating agreements/contracts with strong comprehension of legal and commercial terms and conditions

  • Experience in working with intellectual property concepts and contractual language

  • Project management experience or Six Sigma Green Belt certification (or certification must be obtained within the first 12-24 months)

Northvolt was founded in 2016 with the mission to build the world’s greenest battery cell, with a minimal carbon footprint and the highest ambitions for recycling, to enable the European transition to renewable energy. Northvolt’s team of experts is building the next generation battery cell factory focused on process innovation, scale and vertical integration.
