What We're Looking For

We are hiring a Director to lead our Healthcare & Life Sciences practice. This individual will play a pivotal role in shaping our strategy and presence in the sector, working with global pharmaceutical companies, medtech innovators, and digital health disruptors. The ideal candidate will bring business development chops, deep domain expertise, a strong network across the healthcare and life sciences industry, and a passion for innovation that accelerates new treatments and improves access to them.

This role will work closely with Kearney’s Healthcare and Life Sciences consulting leaders to drive impact across the firm’s global client base.

The Role is Right for You If

  • You have led an innovation, corporate development, or strategic partnerships function at a large healthcare or life sciences company - and understand how big organizations engage with startups and new technology.
  • You have worked at a healthcare-focused strategy consulting or innovation advisory firm, and have experience managing client relationships and delivering insight-driven programs.
  • You have come from a venture capital or corporate venture fund with a healthcare mandate, and are excited to translate that ecosystem knowledge into a client-facing advisory context.
  • You understand the innovation priorities of large pharma, medtech, or digital health companies - not from the bench, but from the boardroom or strategy function.
  • You are energized by business development and have a track record of building relationships that lead to commercial outcomes.

This Is Not the Right Role If

We have a lot of respect for clinical and scientific expertise - but this role does not draw on it. Please self-select out if your background is primarily in:

  • Clinical trial management, clinical operations, or regulatory affairs
  • Laboratory research, drug discovery, or bench science
  • Medical affairs or clinical supply chain
  • Healthcare IT or EMR implementation

The successful candidate will have a strategy, advisory, or corporate development orientation - not a clinical or technical one.

Who You Are:

  • You have 7-10+ years of experience in healthcare innovation, corporate strategy, consulting, or venture capital - with a focus on how large organizations engage with emerging technology and startups.
  • You are well-connected across the healthcare and life sciences ecosystem: corporates, investors, accelerators, and academic institutions. A strong network in the Boston or Bay Area VC community is a plus.
  • You understand the startup landscape in healthcare - not just which companies exist, but what problems they solve and why a Fortune 500 innovation team would care about them.
  • You have designed or executed innovation programs: accelerators, startup scouting, strategic pilots, innovation offsites, or ecosystem partnerships.
  • You are a strong communicator and can translate complex ideas into clear strategic narratives for senior corporate audiences.
  • You thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and are comfortable wearing multiple hats.
  • You are empathetic, self-aware, and able to build trusted relationships with both external clients and internal teams.

What You’ll Do:

  • Shape and grow Silicon Foundry's Healthcare & Life Sciences practice, developing a clear, differentiated point of view on where innovation is headed. Sector Leadership:
  • Identify and close new Member relationships with leading healthcare and life sciences organizations - pharma, medtech, digital health, and payer-adjacent. Business Development:
  • Serve as the primary relationship owner for key Members, ensuring alignment with their strategic goals and delivering consistently high-impact outcomes. Member Success:
  • Identify and evaluate startups and emerging technology players of relevance to our Members - with a focus on strategic fit and partnership potential, not investment diligence. Ecosystem Curation:
  • Represent Silicon Foundry at industry events, contribute to publications, and build our brand in the healthcare innovation space. Thought Leadership:
  • Track trends, regulatory shifts, and emerging technologies to keep our Members ahead of the curve. Market Intelligence:
  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to internal capability-building initiatives. Team Leadership:

Requirements:

  • Based in or willing to spend significant time in Boston, MA.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States (visa sponsorship not available).

Why should you be interested?

  • Unique individual role to collaborate with our senior leader(s) and core platform that spans exposure to venture capital, corporate development, business development, innovation, and strategic advisory
  • Access to and relationship building with C-level executives from forward-thinking global corporates, top startup founders, and their venture investors
  • Daily insight and exposure to a wide variety of sectors, including automotive, beauty, financial services, retail, industrial, etc
  • Unique opportunity to build an early-stage start-up consultancy under the umbrella of a 100 year old top-tier consulting firm
  • High degree of flexibility in managing personal time and schedule
