We are a journey of continuous growth – now looking for our next star – a passionate Director of Product Management. This position reports to General Manager and will work in Litchfield, Illinois.

About the position

As a Director of Product Management in the Litchfield Management team, you will be leading the team of aftermarket marine & outdoor power equipment product managers. This pivotal role will oversee product roadmaps, planning, and forecasting activities, with a strong focus on maximizing revenue and gross margin performance across the portfolio. 

Your main responsibilities

  • Create and execute of product strategies by evaluating specifications, requirements, and market opportunities.
  • Steer new product introductions through ROI analysis, cross-functional coordination, and launch planning.
  • Define product functionality, specifications, and target costs.
  • Collaborate with the VP of Sales to develop strategies that grow market share.
  • Own pricing strategy for the Sierra product line, considering competitive positioning, product value, and brand reputation.
  • Manage standard product margins and support pricing schedules, discount programs, and promotional campaigns.
  • Participate in Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) across facilities; manage product lifecycle and ABC classification.
  • Oversee brand management in partnership with Marketing to maximize brand equity.
  • Serve as the voice of the customer, bridging feedback between Sales, Engineering, and Product teams.
  • Act as Sierra’s product expert, delivering training and developing supporting materials.
  • Partner with Sales & Marketing to create sales tools and promotional content.
  • Set budgets for product promotion, sales support, and technical resources.
  • Monitor competitor activity, market trends, and customer insights.
  • Produce competitive analysis and conduct market research to identify growth opportunities.
  • Explore partnerships or acquisitions to expand the product portfolio.
  • Analyze sales data and performance metrics to inform strategy.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Marine Aftermarket Product Managers.
  • Manage multi-channel product strategies, pricing, and sales support.
  • Ensure product offerings are competitive and tailored to local market needs.
  • Provide technical guidance and strategic input to the senior leadership team.

Skills & Requirements

A suitable background would be a solid experience within Product Management and Team Leadership – as well as the following qualifications and experiences:

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in Product Management with direct reports.
  • A bachelor’s degree, preferably in business or engineering.
  • Advanced degree, such as an MBA, is a plus.
  • Experience in the marine, automotive or a similar industry focused on the manufacturing and distribution of aftermarket products. Deep experience with the different aftermarket sales channels is a significant plus.
  • Experience in similar product management/market management roles in a company or business unit or product segment line with a least $50 million in annual revenues.
  • Experience in (directly or indirectly) sales or operations role.

To be successful in this role, we believe that you possess the following skills, competencies & characteristics:

  • Managed a team and has a proven track record of success in developing leadership bench strength.
  • Experience with successful projects/products that started with the customer experience and were intensely focused on customer satisfaction.
  • Excellent project management (PM) skills; experience in using project planning software or the ability to show the use of a proven PM process/system that delivers results is essential.
  • Excellent project organizational and project portfolio management skills.
  • A person who is a team player, self-starter, data-driven, and has an extreme bias for action.
