Electrical Design Engineer - Construction

We are now looking for a skilled Electrical Design Engineer to join our Construction team to build the power supply and industrial grid for Northvolt Labs in Västerås.

As an electrical design engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Preparation of power system studies such as load flows, short circuit studies, arc flash and protection coordination studies and transient stability studies.

  • Preparation of the electrical equipment load schedules, to size and design the electrical equipment.

  • Gathering the electrical design requirements from the different disciplines.

  • Coordinating between electrical design and other discipline designs.

  • Attendance in inter-disciplinary BIM/model reviews or 2D drawing reviews.

  • Electrical drawing review and approval.
  • Attendance in design meetings.
  • Client representative at FATs for electrical equipment.
  • Creation of SLDs.
  • Creation of electrical design procedure and associated typical drawings.
  • Creation of electrical design specifications.
  • Creation of the electrical operational procedures.
  • Handover of the electrical plant to the Electrical Operations & Maintenance manager.

This role will work closely with the Head of Construction from pre-construction all the way to practical completion. You get the unique opportunity to be part of building the construction team of Northvolt.

Skills & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree within Electrical Engineering or relevant areas or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • The ideal candidate should have 5 to 10 years experience as an electrical engineer on industrial type projects and hold a degree or masters in electrical engineering

  • Excellent English - written and oral skills. Any additional languages skills are a plus.

  • Great communication skills as you will be in constant interaction with team members and external parties such as authorities and auditors.

  • Experience from, and motivated to, setting up work methods and procedures from scratch, work with process evaluation and documentation.

  • High work ethic, multi-tasker, strong analytical ability and attention to details, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

About the company

Northvolt was founded in 2016 with the mission to build the world’s greenest battery cell, with a minimal carbon footprint and the highest ambitions for recycling, to enable the European transition to renewable energy. Northvolt’s team of experts is building the next generation battery cell factory focused on process innovation, scale and vertical integration. Once completed, it will be Europe’s largest battery cell factory and produce 32 GWh worth of capacity annually.
