Role Overview:
We’re looking for a hands-on, highly rigorous QA engineer to join our development team and lead our continuous efforts in offering a highly stable platform first responders can rely on at all times. This role is central to our product development and is responsible for turning a developing product into a production-ready hardened system that can be operational even in the toughest conditions. From designing platform-wide, full-stack test systems to reviewing the latest cutting edge features in our industry – you will be an essential leader in ensuring the quality of products used in the most critical situations where life is on the line.
You need to be a rigorous tester, a savvy automator and ever-trusted guardian of our production environment.
You will work closely with our development team, and also our support team who will provide you with insights from the field.
Skills & Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
- QA processes
- Develop and maintain processes for the testing of the Evam platform and products
- Execute these processes with rigor
- Educate the team on these processes and ensure adherence to them
- Support and user empathy
- Take a leading role in the second line of support to provide technical expertise in issue resolution
- Support decision-making using tools such as Sentry and evangelize the usage of such tools and how they are used
- Feedback learnings into the QA processes and Product team education
- Develop and maintain platform-wide tests
- Develop automated scripts that orchestrate the testing of the Evam platform holistically
- Build realistic test scenarios using a combination of hardware and software
- Lead the technical stack selection in this area
- Design processes to ensure the platform coverage remains high with the addition of new features and components
- Have these automated tests run in CI/CD pipelines within Gitlab
Skills & Requirements:
- You are at ease with command-line tools, scripting and you find the perspective of using both hardware and software exciting
- You are aware of agile development principles as well as DevOps
- You are very autonomous and eager to take responsibility
- You have an eye for details, relying on luck is not an option!
- You have a driving license – several of our products are to be used while driving so using them in a car is an important test
- You think stability first, and are able to say “no” to deployments you are not confident with
- You are able to understand complex software codebases, notably in Kotlin (Android) and Typescript
- You are able to understand a hardware+software platform as a whole, and not simply as the collection of its parts
