Lead Data Engineer to Scandic Hotels Group

We’re expanding our Data Analytics team and are looking for a Lead Data Engineer to lead the technical development of our data platforms and shape the future of data-driven decision making across our 280+ hotels.
At Scandic, we believe in the power of data to transform the way we operate. As our Lead Data Engineer, you’ll have a crucial role in driving the evolution of our data platform and your work will provide critical insights that help our hotels enhance both efficiency and guest experiences. We estimate that you’ll spend about half of your time coding, and the rest focused on architecture, collaboration and other relevant stuff.
You'll collaborate with passionate, innovative colleagues in a cross-functional, forward-thinking team. This role does not include personnel responsibility. You will report to our Head of Tech for Finance & Analytics.
We use Snowflake and Power BI on Azure. Additionally, we are in the process of implementing DBT to complement our Snowflake database, giving you the chance to work with some of the best tools in the business.
What you'll do:
- Lead the innovation of our large-scale data platform, ensuring it runs smoothly and efficiently.
- Design, develop, and optimize data pipelines that power Scandic's data platform.
- Collaborate closely with business and technical teams to transform data requirements into impactful solutions.
- Implement best practices for data management, including data quality, data governance, and data security.
- Mentor and develop team members, fostering a culture of growth and continuous learning.

Skills & Requirements
Who are you?
- Proficiency in data modeling, ETL processes, and data warehousing.
- SQL skills and experience with cloud platforms, particularly Azure.
- Confident working with Snowflake and DBT.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in an agile environment.
- Curiosity and a drive to create business value through data.
- A bachelor's or master's degree in engineering, or a similar field, will be meritorious.
- Full working proficiency in Swedish and English.
