Northvolt has an exciting job possibility for experienced Cathode Material Engineers, specialized in Li-ion battery technology. You will be contributing from start to finish in building one of the first large scale European battery factories, which will play an important role in the transformation to a carbon free society.
With a thorough understanding of design and manufacturing engineering of cathode material process you will be also deeply involved in the process of optimization, the iterative work leading to the highest yield rate for the production and the optimization of material characteristics. You will serve as technical expert for buyers, strategic suppliers and technical team members.
The Cathode Material Engineer, with specialization in Li-ion battery technology will work closely with members within the R&D and Evaluation & Analysis team.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Design and development of cathode materials for lithium-ion battery cells
Characterization and validation of cathode materials for lithium-ion battery cells
Work with external suppliers, institutes, and academic organizations
Provide engineering support to process teams for manufacturing process
The role requires traveling, mainly within Asia.
MSc or PhD in Chemical/Material/Electrical Engineering, and Chemistry/Physics
Demonstrated expertise and success in the development of cathode materials
Must condition 5+ years experience in R&D and manufacturing engineering of cathode materials company
Experience in high Ni NCM and NCA cathode materials or similar
Experience in surface engineering (doping/coating) of cathode materials
Experience in precursor design
Experience in scale-up of production (PP/MP)
Experience in characterization and evaluation of cathode materials
Experience in design and development of batteries/cell
Expertise in high-level XRD analysis of cathode materials
Strong background from technical culture and proven engineering excellence in relevant field(s)
Experience working with international colleagues and customers
Must worked in multi-cultural environment
Excellent English written and oral skills
Ability to work under high pressure and tight deadlines, excellent time management.
Ability to work well with others in a team environment, as well as independently.
Ability to work in a high profile and often high pressured international environment (start-up).
