Region MEA is a key region within Business Sweden and operates from 6 locations, across the Middle East & Africa. The Casablanca office represents the regional hub for North and West Africa and covering 25 dynamic markets. We also work as one MEA team with our colleagues in Dubai, Kenya, Nigeria, Riyadh and South Africa depending on experiences and project competences.

We focus to grow the advisory part of our business, and to become even more relevant in ecosystems such as transport, energy, ICT and health to help propel growth of Swedish companies internationally while supporting the growth of the respective local economies for a win-win partnership.

North & West African markets are undergoing a period of transformation, expected to be one of the world’s most populous regions by the year 2050. The region provide many opportunities over a large spectrum of industries for companies who want to grow their international revenue, for example within the prioritized sectors of the region.

What do we expect from you?

As a Consultant with Business Sweden, you will work in project teams, or lead projects depending on capacities, alongside our experienced and ambitious consultants and project managers delivering projects that provide support to leading Swedish companies in their international business development and expansion in our focus countries and in other countries within the region depending on demand and fit for purpose. The range of projects include public affairs and business-to-government, sales acceleration, market entry and growth strategies, market and stakeholder analysis, business partner, target acquisitions, supply chain & location analysis and similar. You may sometimes be expected to manage all aspects of client projects, from inception to successful completion, on time and within budget, lead and motivate project teams, manage project risks ensuring clear communication and collaboration.

You will proactively find new business opportunities and drive the insight selling in the region for clients, build strong client relationships, as well as having an active role in developing our value proposition (Scope and sell projects and services to our clients). Might require regular travels to and coordination/ interactions with a wide range of stakeholders within client organisations as well as governmental agencies, academia, and Business Sweden colleagues around the world.

You will also be part of strategic engagements aiming at developing and promoting high-level trade relations between Sweden and key markets in the region.

We also closely work with supporting Swedish companies in collaborating with multilateral development banks (World Bank, African Development Bank, EIB and EBRD) especially related to large infrastructure procurements/ projects.

You already have professional experience in the North & West African region, e.g. through working experience from a consulting or business development role. You are interested in a fast-paced environment, a steep learning curve and to work in a dedicated team supporting Swedish clients in their growth journey in North & West Africa, as well as in MEA and globally.

Skills & Requirements

Who are we looking for?

  • You have a higher academic degree, probably a Master of Science in Engineering and/or Business Administration
  • You have a relevant working experience for +/- 5 years, preferably from Management Consulting or similar in North & West Africa
  • You have an entrepreneurial mindset, ability to work proactively and independently with relevant tasks towards grow the region
  • You have experience from an international context from studying or working
  • A high level of proficiency in both written and spoken English & French
    • Any other local language from the region is a plus
  • You are results-oriented, analytical and with a strong drive and an ability to handle new challenges.
  • You have social and team-working skills and cultural adaptiveness.
  • Collaborate with and be helpful to colleagues
  • Be open minded and curious with a humble can do attitude
