We are seeking a (Senior) Data Scientist to join our dynamic team and play a pivotal role in leading Networked-AP’s data science activities while actively contributing to our data strategy.
As a (Senior) Data Scientist, you will be working with invoices, purchase orders, and other associated data. In the role, you will be responsible for leading Networked-AP’s data science activities and actively contributing towards data strategy. You will work with our existing machine learning features and create new features in collaboration with the development teams. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to make a significant contribution to Basware’s business success by increasing data literacy and leveraging data across the organization.
What you’ll do:
- Lead data science initiatives and contribute to the overall data strategy
- Develop and enhance machine learning features in collaboration with development teams
- Work with large-scale datasets, including invoices, purchase orders, and other related data
- Utilize and optimize commercially available large language models to enhance SaaS services
- Implement retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) methodologies for customer-aware context in SaaS applications
- Design, train, and deploy machine learning models at scale, particularly for tabular and textual data
- Work with embeddings and open-source embedding models in a cloud environment
- Improve data literacy across the organization by mentoring colleagues and sharing best practices
- Utilize Python or R for data analysis, model development, and problem-solving
- Communicate insights effectively through data visualization and storytelling

Skills & Requirements
What we’re looking for:
- Extensive experience with statistics, machine learning, and data visualization
- Proven track record of training and deploying machine learning models at scale
- Advanced degree (M.Sc. or higher) in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field
- Expertise in machine learning algorithms, especially for tabular and textual data (e.g., XGBoost, NLP)
- Proficiency in SQL, pandas, and scikit-learn or other relevant software packages
- Strong ability to understand complex data models and create predictive ML applications
- Familiarity with developing applications using large language models
- Experience working with embeddings and implementing them in cloud-based projects
- Excellent programming skills in Python or R
- Strong data visualization and storytelling abilities
- Excellent communication and mentoring skills
- Knowledge of cloud architecture (AWS, Azure, GCP), serverless computing, cloud data storage, and GenAI/ML tools
- Experience with CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and ML operations
- Familiarity with Splunk for logging
