Junior Data Engineer to listed industry leader in northern Europe

The Group Data Platform team, which operates as the central data team in the MEKO sphere, is looking for a junior data engineer to strengthen our ranks. In this role you will join a strong and driven team with the goal of helping our business become more data driven.

As a part of this journey, we are looking for someone who is passionate about data and has true interest in building high-quality data pipelines and is capable of building data models that support more than one stakeholder.

MEKO consists of northern Europe's leading car service chains with their own wholesale operations, with more than 600 stores and almost 4,500 workshops operating under the Group's brands. We offer a wide and easily accessible range of affordable and innovative services, solutions and products for workshops and car owners.

High level description:

  • Work operationally with your colleagues in the data team to build new data products and use cases in a broad sense: everything from infrastructure, DevOps, data engineering, modelling and visualization. We do not expect you to know all these topics, but you should be willing to approach and learn them with our support.
  • Work together with business stakeholders across the groups various companies in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Poland, the Baltics and Finland.
  • .Collaborate with analytics, sustainability, business development and other teams at MEKO to ensure that we deliver high quality data that can help them build a stronger MEKO

Skills & Requirements

You:

  • We're looking for someone who thrives on learning and embraces technical challenges. You'll be working with our multi-faceted platform, so curiosity and adaptability are essential. We do not expect you to be an expert of everything (nor know it from the get-go), but you should be willing to try new technologies and learn!
  • Technical degree of some kind within fields such as mathematics, computer science, engineering, or the natural sciences
  • Interest in data engineering, visualization, distributed systems and building scalable and robust data driven products
  • Willing to collaborate and both give and receive constructive feedback
  • Experience programming in a major language, e.g., Python, JS, Java, or similar
  • Experience using databases of some kind and can write basic SQL
  • Experience using version control, preferably git
  • Able to communicate in English

We expect you to:

  • Help build products with a full-stack focus using Python, Spark, Snowflake, MongoDB, dbt and more
  • Help set up and manage infrastructure with Docker, Kubernetes and Terraform
  • Help build reproducible pipelines using Airflow and Databricks
  • Be serious about delivering high quality code

Nice to have:

  • Experience with web development
  • Experience with CI/CD
  • Experience with agile ways of working
  • Linux experience
