Head of Theatrical Distribution, Norway

In the role as Head of Theatrical Distribution Norway you have the overall responsibility for SF Studios’ theatrical distribution business in Norway, including P&L for marketing and sales and involvement in acquiring film rights in the Norwegian market. It is a highly commercial and operational role, working closely together with SF Studios’ theatrical and home entertainment teams in all Nordic countries.

Responsibilities

  • Provide top notch value-based leadership, including managing the team and people on a daily basis, create a good work environment and build a strong, dedicated and engaged high performing team.
  • Drive business improvement change initiatives, to ensure profitable theatrical business with focus on "bottom line" results.
  • Personnel responsibility for the theatrical sales/booking department as well as the theatrical marketing team. Including performance and development reviews, salary reviews, recruitments, exits, etc.
  • Ensure that roles and responsibilities are clear for all people in the organization and that important interfaces and cooperation within the team and towards other parts of SF Studios’ local and Nordic organization works well.
  • Responsible for the launch of all theatrical titles in the Norwegian market, including launch strategy (release dates, marketing strategy, approval of budgets and plans), closely coordinated with other Nordic countries and the home entertainment business.
  • Do exhibitor negotiations (in collaboration with sales team). Sell and promote titles in line-up, discuss dates, cities, cinemas, screens, seats, shows and rental terms.
  • Act as contact for local producers and production companies regarding launch, marketing campaign and distribution of local films, including script reading, estimation of market potential.
  • Handle relationship with US majors, such as Sony, to ensure successful collaboration and launch of major titles in the Norwegian market.
  • Collaborate with Nordic colleagues and contribute to building a strong Nordic team, sharing and utilizing resources and knowledge cross country borders.
  • Build and maintain great relationships with key industry organizations and partners and continue to grow SF Studios’ brand in the Norwegian film industry.
  • Responsible for contact to the national film institute, and support to local producers when applying for support.
  • Market analysis of the Norwegian theatrical market and implement proactive business adjustments.
  • Approval of local P&A budgets and marketing plans and approval of P&A budget for majors as well as independent film launches.
  • Annual budgeting, forecasting and other financial follow-up.

Skills & Requirements

  • An experienced leader with excellent team building and leadership skills
  • Business minded, flexible and a quick adapter to the changes in the industry
  • Good knowledge of the media business and a great interest in film
  • Great knowledge of marketing and sales is required and experience of this within the media and/or entertainment business is an advantage
  • Ability to work both holistic/strategic and operational

  • A great communicator - internal as well as external
  • Well-structured, organized and resilient
  • Fluent in English and Norwegian (writing and speaking)

  • The position reports to Nordic Head of Theatrical Distribution, based at SF Studios’ headoffice in Stockholm.
  • The position will require travel to some extent
