About the team:
As the Data Platform Architect at Vipps MobilePay, you’ll join our team of three Data Platform Engineers in our Oslo office. Data Platform is part of the Data & Insights area with 17 people in total.
We in Team Data Platform provide a marketplace for data and tooling. We are building and managing a modern data platform that connects data producers with data consumers. We enable teams to gain insights and solve problems with data (BI/DS/ML/AI) whilst respecting our users’ privacy and customers’ business interests.
Our data platform is built on Databricks and Unity Catalog. The infrastructure is managed with Terraform, automations with GitHub actions, and integrations with Python. The analytics community use tools such as dbt, Databricks notebooks and dashboards, Mixpanel and PowerBI.
What you will be doing:
We are seeking an individual with a solid engineering background and extensive experience in data infrastructure. Our work environment blends the stability of an established organization with the agility and innovation of a start-up. Successful candidates will be flexible, curious, and possess the humility to both teach and learn.
You will be responsible for:
- Designing and maintaining the data platform architecture to support efficient data storage, retrieval, and analysis.
- Data & Insights’ system architecture and the interfaces with other systems. Collaborate with technical architects from across the company to refine the data platform design, aligning it with strategic goals and simplifying processes.
- The internal health of the data platform - ensuring performance, scalability, reliability, security, and cost-efficiency.
- Researching and making decisions about the technologies, tools, and interfaces of the data platform to meet the organization’s needs.
- Actively participating in code reviews, collaborating in problem-solving sessions and offering guidance/mentoring to the data platform team.
With the data and tooling made available on the Data platform, our co-workers can perform real-time fraud detection, strengthen anti-money laundering efforts, and enhance financial reporting aligned with our business strategy. We also enable our colleagues to meet regulatory requirements and support external stakeholders, including national statistics agencies, authorities, partner banks, and law enforcement.
Skills & Requirements
What we are looking for:
We’re looking for candidates with proven experience with data and cloud platforms, including a strong understanding of data infrastructure and cloud-based solutions. 8+ years of experience in software development, Data Engineering or Platform Engineering, and architecture experience with hands-on designing and implementing scalable and reliable data platforms.
Other requirements that might describe you:
- You enjoy structuring complex problems into clear requirements and designing simple and scalable solutions to solve them
- Experience with stakeholder management, communicating and selling ideas and visions effectively within the team, to internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability and experience to thrive in fast-paced environments - preferably from consultancy or start-up/Scale-up
- Experience deploying solutions using Databricks would be great, but not a requirement!
- Fluency in both written and spoken English, as English is our working language.
