We are looking for an experienced Senior Payroll Specialist to join us in our mission to contribute to a greener future. The role is a part of our passionate Payroll team. You will be a key player in improving our payroll handling even further and enabling Northvolt to continue the journey towards a more sustainable future.
About the job
The Senior Payroll Specialist plays a crucial role in our organization, ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll while maintaining compliance with all relevant laws and regulations. This position is pivotal in supporting other entities during the implementation of new systems and processes, collaborating closely with HR to support our employees' needs.
About the team
The team consists of 6 people in different locations who support all employees across all Swedish entities.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Handling employee and business partner queries (HR, Finance, Tax)
- Compile reports on base and premium pay
- Support our internal and external customers that have payroll inquiries
- Analyze and process off-cycle pay, special payments, adjustments and reversals
- Determine root cause of payroll errors by collecting and analyzing information under strict deadlines
- Manage Audits, Workers compensation audits and any state tax notices
- Assist with the development of payroll policy and procedures, contingency plans and process improvement initiatives by leveraging existing tools and processes

Skills & Requirements
We believe that you have :
- Bachelor degree in accounting or equivalent and two years relevant experience or High School diploma/equivalent and equivalent work experience
- Must have 3+ years of payroll processing experience for 1,000 plus employees
- Experience with payroll principles as well as understanding of basic accounting principles including payroll taxes, sales tax, and general ledger reconciliations
- Experience with pay practices or labor laws
- Experience with financial software and systems
Bonus points for:
- IPASS Qualification would be a distinct advantage
- CPP certification or similar
- Ability to compare data against written policy guidelines and identify variations or exceptions
- Intermediate Excel skills (short cuts, vlookups, pivot tables, filtering )
