Main goal
To support the Refereeing Operations team with the appointment's administration of match officials (referees, incl. VAR) and referee observers for all UEFA competitions (almost 3000 matches per season).

Key responsibilities

  • Supporting the Refereeing Operations team with all administrative tasks relating to the appointments of referees and referee observers:
    • Entering data in UEFA's online Football Administration Management Environment (FAME) platform
    • Sending match appointments notifications and confirmations
    • Processing replies from the referees’ national associations and from the referee observers
    • Coordinating match officials’ travel arrangements with the CWT travel agency
    • Following up on payments to match officials with the finance division
  • Coordinating travel and accommodation for video assistant referees (VAR) operating remotely from UEFA's Nyon headquarters in cooperation with the Travel, Accommodation and Conferences unit
  • Managing data bases for panels of referees and observers in FAME
  • Periodically updating referee category lists and national associations’ referee key contacts lists
  • Providing the Refereeing unit with on-site support at refereeing events and courses in Switzerland and abroad
  • Acting as Refereeing Coordinator for one youth final tournament per season (U17, U19, WU17 or WU19)

      Skills & Requirements

      Experience:

      • From 1 to 3 years' experience working in an international organisation
      • From 1 to 3 years' experience working with large database systems
      • From 1 to 3 years' experience working on sporting events or for another sporting organisation would be an asset

      Education:

      • CFC diploma or Bachelor's degree in business administration, sports management or another relevant field

      Languages:

      • English: Proficient
      • French: Advanced
      • Any other languages would be an asset

      Other requirements:

      • MS Office: Advanced
      • Communicative team player able to multitask in a deadline-driven environment
      • Attentive to details but also capable of seeing the big picture
      • Good spoken and written communication skills
      • Available to travel
      • Good knowledge of sport in general and football in particular
      • Experience of working with an external advisory board or committee would be an asset
