At Heart Aerospace we develop the ES-30, a regional hybrid-electric airplane with a capacity of 30 passengers, an electric zero-emission range of 200 km and an extended hybrid range of 400 km. Heart is targeting type certification of the ES-30 by the end of the decade.

We are now looking for a Senior Loads & Dynamics Engineer to join our Flight Sciences team in Gothenburg. Do you have experience with aircraft loads and aeroelasticity and want to contribute to a more sustainable future?

Your mission

The Senior Aircraft Loads & Dynamics Engineer will help design, develop and certify our aircraft. As a hybrid aircraft, with some new and novel design features, this may entail innovative approaches to aircraft loads & dynamics modelling, analysis, and testing. This will be a broad role covering design support, analysis and compliance finding. In this role, you will interface to and work with all other engineering groups including systems and structures.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Perform flight loads, ground loads and component loads calculation.
  • Perform static and dynamic aeroelastic stability evaluations, including flutter and whirl flutter to ensure structural integrity and optimize design.
  • Conduct and lead modal testing, validate dynamic models, and correlate test results with simulations.
  • Define and analyse vibration and shock requirements based on industry standards for systems and components.
  • Perform dynamic loads analysis for various flight conditions (e.g., dynamic/continuous gust, dynamic landing).
  • Create and maintain finite element models (FEM) for aeroelastic analysis using industry-standard tools.
  • Work closely with teams across aerodynamics, structural, and control systems to integrate loads and dynamics into designs.
  • Support flight testing and analyse test data to ensure models match real-world performance.
  • Provide certification basis and establish compliance strategies.

You will report to the Head of Flight Sciences and your place of work will be at our main office located in Gothenburg, Sweden.

Skills & Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years experience in a relevant engineering discipline, within an aerospace OEM company environment, including the conceptual and preliminary design phase.
  • Experience with aircraft development programs through the entire design, development & certification lifecycle (EASA/FAA Part 23 or 25)
  • Strong knowledge of aircraft loads and aeroelasticity, with a solid foundation in aerodynamics, rigid body dynamics, and the principles of vibration theory.
  • Proficiency in FEA tools like NASTRAN, Hypermesh.
  • Proficiency in aeroelastic solver tools like ZAERO, NASTRAN.
  • Good programming skills, preferably Python.
  • Familiarity with environmental qualification testing standards like DO-160G.
  • Familiarity with composite structures is a plus.
  • Strong communication and report-writing skills for technical documentation and coordination with cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills in English.
  • Eagerness to work with others.
  • Passion for aircraft and electrification of the aviation industry.

Education

  • Bachelor, Master or Doctor of Science degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical, Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline.

We recommend you submit your application in English as soon as possible as selection and interviews are held continually.
