Discover science with potential and help build deeptech ventures from KTH

KTH Innovation is launching a deeptech program in Q1 2025 for teams developing research and science-based innovations across all industries such as Life Science, Materials, Quantum, Cleantech, AI and more. The Program leverages KTH Innovation’s nearly 20 years of experience in supporting deeptech innovation.

How do You come in? We are looking for external Venture Builders to join the program and support the participating research teams in building ventures out of their research/technologies. We foresee that you will interact with several teams and explore different technologies but ultimately match with a team where you can take on the role as commercial driver and become co-founder (e.g. CEO, Project Leader, CXO). You and the other Program participants will be supported by KTH Innovation with expertise in business development, IP, legal, funding and team development and be able to leverage our services and networks (for example industry, investors and mentors) towards commercialization.

What you’ll do

As a Venture Builder in the Program, you will be playing a crucial part in identifying and achieving key milestones in taking research towards commercialization. You will perform activities such as market validation, engaging with industry and exploring opportunities for financing, business development and technology development.

Throughout the Program you will engage and collaborate with other Venture Builders and research teams in monthly onsite Program activities such as workshops, training sessions and development sprints.

We expect you to be able to commit part-time (minimum 20%) during at least 6-12 months. Certain activities, such as conducting market research can be compensated via consultancy assignments but your main incentive should be to establish a venture that you could become co-founder and co-owner of.

Your unique opportunity – A learning journey that can generate transformative impact through innovation

For those ready to take on the mission, disruptive innovation offers the potential to drive transformative societal change, advance technological boundaries, and yield substantial (financial) rewards for founders and investors alike.

Skills & Requirements

If you are enthusiastic about deeptech venture journeys, you probably also have relevant values to contribute with to the Program. For example, we think you might have some of the following skills and background:

  • Minimum MSc in relevant technology fields and/or business or economics studies.
  • Experience from areas relevant for commercialization of new technologies for example business development, product development, fundraising etc.
  • Good communicator – oral and written (fluency in English).
  • You are a team player that can build, manage and motivate others. A bonus is if you have experience in leading teams.
  • You can manage structure and drive progress of complex and challenging projects with high degree of uncertainty.
  • Good at building and managing relationships with external networks and partners.
  • Founder experience (CEO, CTO, CXO) is not a requirement but meriting.

We believe in diversity and therefore welcome all applicants regardless of gender, background, orientation or beliefs.

Sounds interesting?

The Program launches in Q1 2025, and we’re looking for people to join us from the very beginning — where it all starts. Sound interesting? Connect with the KTH Innovation ecosystem today by submitting your interest, and we’ll be in touch soon!
