Project Manager / Senior Project Manager, Business Consulting, Nigeria

We are now looking for a Project Manager / Senior Project Manager who want's to be part of building our office, footprint and presence in Nigeria & Africa.

Nigeria, a country with a vibrant and dynamic business landscape is ranked as the 27th-largest economy in the world in terms of nominal GDP, and the 24th-largest in terms of purchasing power parity. It is one of the largest economies in Africa and an emerging market. The country has a mixed economy with a low to middle income. Nigeria is a land of untapped potential, with numerous sectors offering promising opportunities for business growth such as consumer goods and retail, ICT, agriculture, and infrastructure (transport, healthcare, renewable energy etc). The country´s immense potentials also comes with its fair share of challenges hence support needed by companies to navigate this important market/ partner. Sweden has a good relationship with Nigeria with interests to develop this further especially in areas/ sectors of common interests for Nigeria and Sweden. Opportunities exists in/ with Nigeria for Swedish businesses some of which have been present in the country for decades and they see further growth in the market for their businesses.

Business Sweden has been present in Africa for over two decades and our team offers strategic advice and operational support that help Swedish companies expand and grow their business in the region. Together with Business Sweden’s offices in Casablanca, Johannesburg and Nairobi, the Nigerian office will offer support to Swedish companies to the African region.

As Project Manager / Senior Project Manager at Business Sweden your job will encompass a diverse range of tasks within our governmental assignment as well as consultancy business.

The role includes both strategic, tactic and operational responsibilities such as:

  • Contribute to the establishment of the Nigeria-based office by taking on a wide range of hands-on and operational tasks as needed
  • Lead teams and working close with our clients in Nigeria and Africa
  • Build strong client relationships
  • Manage all aspects of client projects, from inception to successful completion, on time and within budget, lead and motivate project teams, manage project risks ensuring clear communication and collaboration.
  • Scope and sell projects and services to our clients.
  • Proactively find new business opportunities and drive the insight selling in the region for clients, as well as having an active role in developing our value propositions
  • Interact with a wide range of stakeholders within client organisations as well as governmental agencies, academia, and Business Sweden colleagues around the world.

The role is based in Lagos, but you will be expected to work with our teams and clients around the world, as required.

    Formal requirements

    • Master of science in Business Administration or Engineering or equivalent.
    • Minimum of 5 - 7 years of relevant experience (depending on PM or SPM role) from a consultancy firm, strategy departments from the private sector or sales and business development departments or equivalent.
    • You have experience of leading and coaching consultant teams and prior experience from an international environment, proven track record of leading multinational project teams and working cross-border.
    • Proven track record of successfully delivering complex projects.
    • Proven track record in sales and the ability to independently drive client dialogues, and take on full sales cycle responsibility, is a must.
    • You have a high level of proficiency in both written and spoken English. Proficiency in Swedish is meriting.
    • Have experience from living/working in Nigeria
    • Meriting of living/working in other parts of Africa.
