Every year more than 250 000 people from all over the world visit us at Scandic Destination Nordkapp and our job is to give them a memorable adventure at the North Cape.

The destination includes Scandic Bryggen, a small intimate boutique hotel; Scandic Honningsvåg, a well-known landmark in Norway’s northernmost town; Scandic Nordkapp, our unique tourist hotel in the middle of nature and Nordkapphallen, the visitor center at the very top of Europe – the North Cape Plateau. Our Gift Shop at Nordkapphallen is visited by most of our guests and is the largest department of the destination.

As Gift Shop Manager you will be in charge of a team of up to 25 people depending on the season. You will be responsible for the day-to-day operations as well as the continued development for giving the customers a great experience. Together with the purchasing manager and inventory supervisor you will make sure that our customers can find the perfect gift or memory from their visit with us!

Your duties and responsibilities will include:

  • To give great customer service and build a motivated team
  • Organizing displays, promotions and merchandizing
  • Recruiting, training and follow-up of your team
  • Ensuring efficient day-to-day operations according to plan
  • Shared responsibilities for budgets and results
  • Team management, scheduling and payroll

You will work hands-on in the department, setting a great example for your team. The position is mostly administrative, but will include work in operations when needed. You will cooperate closely with the Inventory supervisor and other Heads of Departments, while reporting to the Purchasing Manager.

Skills & Requirements

Do you excel at giving great service and experiences? Are you outgoing and love to inspire both your customers and your team? Are you also structured, analytical and strategic in order to be ahead of the challenges that may arise? These are the traits we are looking for in our Gift Shop Manager.

Other personal characteristics that will help you succeed:

  • Energetic and hungry for new challenges
  • A good communicator
  • Passionate about your work, inspiring leadership and a strong advocate for the department
  • Adaptable and flexible
  • Able to make quick decisions and responsible for your actions

Other qualifications we are looking for:

  • Good English skills are required and knowledge of a Scandinavian language is a beneficial
  • Driver's license class B
  • Good general computer skills
  • Experience from retail is required and any experience from tourism is beneficial

This is a permanent full-time position as Department Manager. The position is mostly administrative, but will require work in operations on day, evening, weekends and public holidays as needed. If you need to relocate, we can assist with housing for a period.

Accession per agreement in Q4 2024.
