The Rovio Stockholm Studio is behind the hugely popular title Angry Birds 2 and while soaring on that success we are also developing several new IPs and exploring new game ideas within the RPG genre, as well as improving and expanding Angry Birds 2 even further. In the studio, situated in the south part of the city centre, we keep a flat hierarchy, a high level of transparency and an open communication. We challenge each other and ourselves in all we do here but keep the atmosphere friendly, inclusive, respectful and super supportive.
You will need a proven portfolio demonstrating your skills, and a track record of projects you have worked on as a technical artist.
At Rovio you will be an active project team member with responsibility for helping our talented team deliver their art on time and in excellent quality. You will be working closely with the other artists, designers and programmers to create unforgettable experiences for our fans.
What you’ll take under your wings:
Help define asset creation pipelines, guidelines and workflows to turn a vision in to a reality
Assist the project art lead in making decisions about the art style of the game
Push the visual quality of the game
Be the go to person for a broad range of topics, such as shaders, scripts, tools and asset workflows
Solution oriented and be able to quickly understand and effectively communicate the most efficient possible direction for any given technical art problem
You will assist both artists and engineers implementing game assets within Unity
Be part of the technical artist team and help mentor, coach and knowledge share
You’ll need these skills:
4+ years in gaming industry or equivalent with at least 2 years of experience as an Technical Artist on a game project
Great understanding of modern art pipelines 2D & 3D
Solid experience working with Unity
Prior experience with C# or Python.
Experience in Tools programming/scripting for Maya and preferably at least one other major authoring package (e.g Unity, Max, Modo, Photoshop)
Broad knowledge of shaders, optimizations and workflows for games, desirable in mobile technologies
Having knowledge in Rigging and Skinning (Maya) is desirable
Understanding the fundamentals of art is desirable
Great personality and attitude
Ability to work autonomously in small teams
Great leadership, teamwork and people skills
Good track record and impressive portfolio
Fluent in English with strong verbal and written communication skills
