About the role

Our company goal is to be the “#1 Security Experience in the World”. With that mission in mind, we value data-based insight highly, and as a Senior UX researcher you are in the vanguard of providing our product organization with key qualitative insights to define our future product portfolio offering. We are also working hard to develop and maintain good design maturity in the company, with a Design function consisting of dedicated design chapters for UX design, Service design, and Visual design.

This position is the foundational piece of our UX Research chapter, so it is also a great opportunity to influence and establish the way product research operations are conducted in F-Secure. This is a Senior-level individual contributor position with the potential of including managerial responsibilities as our UX research operations grow in the coming years.

This position will have an approximate salary of 4400 to 5,000€ /month (potentially adjusted based on your experience and/or for regional cost-of-living considerations). While we are a global company with hybrid work practices, we prefer our candidate for this position to reside in the Helsinki region of Finland.

Within one month you will...

• Begin 1:1s with your manager, meet and familiarize yourself with the design function operations, start delving into current existing design validation needs, processes and practices.
• Learn about F-Secure’s product creation and JourneyOps processes.
• Familiarize yourself with existing tooling (and have suggestions of possible gaps or needs).
• Meet the primary stakeholders and start creating connections in the company.
• Set your goals with your manager and develop an action plan to achieve them.

Within three months you will...

• Successfully lead research efforts by planning, conducting, analyzing, and communicating gained insights.
• Work closely with our UX and Service design chapters to improve our capacity to be data-drive in our decision making and have a clear understanding of the market and consumer research ongoing at F-Secure.
• Collaboratively contribute to our way-of-working establishing a process of how to conduct research and funnel insights into our product teams & journey ops.
• Have achieved understanding of F-Secure’s business goals, vision, and strategy.
• Will be well on your way on onboarding yourself to the F-Secure Fellowship.

Within six months you will...

• Drive UX Research activities delivering real impact on the product portfolio.
• Establish, track, and report progress on our efforts to provide value through UX Research.
• Contribute significantly to our continued quest to become more customer-centric and develop our design maturity at F-Secure.
• Be the main proponent for UX Research in the Design Function and Product Business Organization in F-Secure.

Who are we looking for?

As you will be our first fully dedicated UX researcher in the Design Function, we will be relying on you to set the tone of how we do UX research and how we communicate the value of it to our stakeholders. We hope that you are passionate, practical, and outcome-driven and know how to both deliver value at a rapid pace and communicate findings effectively.

• Prior experience: An established track record of running/establishing research operations for a product company (approx. 5+ years).
• Craft skills: Demonstrated strong skills in framing & conducting research and conducting insight analysis. Some experience in service design practices, and a familiarity with UX design practices.
• Professional skills: You are self-directed, are familiar with the complexities of working with a product portfolio consisting of multiple product or services. Prior experience with B2B2C business models is a plus. You are an outstanding written and verbal communicator. You are familiar with cross-functional collaboration, and excellent at structuring your work.

Our interview process:

At F-Secure we want to be efficient and transparent in our recruiting. Below is the process you can expect for this role. Our aim is to move quickly through the steps, and inform each candidate on a timely manner whether they will continue to the next round.

1. Introduction interview

• 30-minute introduction call with our Talent Acquisition Partner.
• This call will focus on getting to know you a little bit better, and tell you more about who we are and what we believe here at F-Secure.

2. Team interview

• 60-minute call with our Director of Design and other members of our Design Function (TBD).
• This call consists of an overview of your past projects and experiences (including accomplishments achieved and challenges you have overcome) and a conversation about your preferred approach to UX research.

3. Final interview

• 60-minute collaborative exercise where you can demonstrate in practice how you would go about setting up research operations, your preferred methodologies, and go-to metrics for measuring success.
• This call is a chance for us to collaborate; to see you in action, and to get a small sample of what working together would be like. We will provide you with a fictive scenario for you to sink your teeth in, and then we’ll roleplay it out.
