NPI Buyer

About the role

The NPI Buyer supports procurement activities based on sourcing strategies created by the Category Management Team. Responsibilities include selecting suppliers, including global opportunities; driving the RFQ process; analyzing and summarizing quotations; negotiating agreements; and tracking purchase orders of prototypes and samples. The role also involves processing local sourcing with a focus on supply chain sustainability and price reductions under the supervision of Category Management. Additionally, the NPI Buyer works on improving the supply chain process through active engagement with current suppliers.

Key responsibilities:

• Interfaces with Sourcing Team on sourcing strategy and execute accordingly.
• Acquires and maintains technical understanding of direct products used in production process.
• Collaborate with design team and product team to develop project plan for prototype and samples
introduction.
• Prepare Requests for Quotations, cost analysis and volume planning for major commodities.
• Develops new supply sources where vendors and suppliers are inadequate.
• Participate in NPI related internal meetings, including preparation of presentations for management,
• Use ERP and other systems to collect and analyze data,
• Create and execute actions plans to improve supplier performance.
• Recommend cost saving proposals including make-versus-buy analysis, alternative sourcing, and vendor
evaluation criteria.
• Investigates alternate component technologies or supplies, reducing cost and improving quality and
reliability.
• Participate in and support the coordinated contract and price negotiations with strategic suppliers
driven by Sourcing Team.
• Drive Continues Supplier Improvements through available processes.
• Perform other tasks assigned by Manager

Skills & Requirements

Requirements:

• Master’s degree in engineering or Business management
• At least 3 years of experience in sourcing related position
• Experience in mechanical, electrical, and electromechanical manufacturing field or similar
• Knowledge of Supply Chain processes
• Proficiency in using Microsoft Office (proficiency in Excel), relational databases and ERP system
• Fluent English

About the company

Northvolt is a European supplier of sustainable, high-quality battery cells and systems. Founded in 2016 to enable the European transition to a decarbonized future, Northvolt has made swift progress on its mission to deliver the world’s greenest lithium-ion battery with a minimal CO2 footprint and the highest ambitions for recycling. Northvolt Ett is a next generation battery cell factory focused on process innovation, scale and vertical integration. Once completed, the gigafactory will be one of the largest battery cell factory in Europe and produce at least 32 GWh of capacity annually.

Alongside Northvolt Ett, Northvolt is also establishing a manufacturing site for battery systems in Gdansk, Poland. This facility, Northvolt Battery Systems Jeden, will industrialize and produce world leading battery systems in order to meet the increased demand for complete battery solutions on the European market. The factory is a highly automated, state-of-the-art production facility for battery modules and energy storage solutions.

We are currently in an exciting fast-growing phase and operate in a dynamic environment, dealing with a wide range of stakeholders. We are staffing our international office in Stockholm, our R&D facility, Northvolt Labs in Västerås, as well as Northvolt Battery Systems Jeden, in Gdansk, for production of battery systems.
