About the role

We are looking for a confident and outgoing Credit Controller to work part time in our finance department located in Gravesend, providing exceptional sales ledger administration and service delivery to our customers located across a range of industry sectors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Proactively manage the credit control process across a portfolio of customers/clients.
  • Be responsible for the posting and allocation of collections against your portfolio of customers/clients.
  • Chase outstanding invoices/book debts by telephone, email and/or letter in line with an agreed schedule.
  • Undertake monthly sales ledger reviews across your portfolio.
  • Verify invoices/book debts by checking receipt of goods/services.
  • Communicate regularly with customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Checking customer’s credit and approving or denying it, based on company policy and external insurers.
  • Liasing with Solicitors and starting legal proceedings if clients do not pay their debts on time.
  • Embrace all company values, policies, procedures and business ethics codes and demonstrate them within all daily activity.
  • Communicate at all levels within the business to ensure the customers’ expectations are exceeded in all that we do.
  • Plan, prioritise and self-manage daily activity to be as efficient and effective as possible within this role.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position does not carry any initial responsibility for direct reports.

Measurable Outputs

  • Ensure all postings are completed in a timely manner in line with monthly and yearly reporting schedules.
  • Maintain DSO in line with company policy to ensure a healthy cash flow.

Your profile

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience working within a similar role.
  • Strong communication and inter-personal skills with a willingness to get involved within an enthusiastic and passionate team.
  • Good understanding of Microsoft word/outlook and excel. Knowledge of Xero/Unleashed desirable.
  • Good time management skills.
  • Ability to adapt to varying workloads.
  • The individual must have the right of residence and to work in the UK.
  • Professional, friendly and resourceful approach with outgoing personality and strength of character.
  • Sound organisational and administrative abilities, and the ability to self-manage and plan a working week.
