Job Description

Are you passionate about pioneering groundbreaking medical solutions?

Do you want to contribute to building a business that will help millions of patients and healthcare professionals worldwide?

Then join our dynamic team as a potential co-founder and Head of Operations!

ABOUT US

We are a MedTech startup company born as a spin-off from KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm. Our mission is to enable convenient patient-centric sample collection and unlock the full potential of diagnostics. How? With easy-to-use products for painless microsampling of blood or interstitial fluid (ISF) from the skin to be used at the point of care.

Our goal is to bring these microneedle-based products to the market within 2-3 years and ultimately provide a new platform as an alternative to old existing sampling methods (venipuncture at the hospital or uncomfortable finger pricks). Furthermore, expanding or complementing usage in a wide range of application areas, including screening and prevention programs, clinical trials, personalized medicine, sampling for premature newborns, infants and those afraid of needles, or self-sampling at home.

The journey ahead

As we push forward, we are focused on business development, developing our technology platform for several use cases and fundraising. We see numerous market opportunities and need to refine our business model, market entry strategy, targeted application areas, while at the same time optimize device usability, pursue clinical validation, and scale up manufacturing.

This is where you can play a crucial role. We are looking for a candidate who preferably has experience from a medtech start up environment and would like to take on a fundamental role in our team.

What we offer

We offer an opportunity to join a start-up company, with a unique technology based on pioneering research at KTH and currently part of the STING (Stockholm Innovation & Growth AB) deeptech incubator program, with many interesting market opportunities.

Until funding is fully secured, you will be primarily incentivized via ownership in the company. Your level of involvement depends on gained traction, customer interest and funding, but we expect you to initially spend at least 50% of your full time and be able to ramp this up to full time later. However, depending on the candidate’s profile, the involvement, operational tasks, and incentives can be adapted for the best interest of all parties.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a passionate entrepreneur who can complement our team’s skill set, with the potential and desire to take on an important role in the company, and willing to make the difference and be part of an inspiring journey.

Your responsibilities, in close collaboration with our CEO and CTO, will include to:

  • Oversee and drive the business administration and economy, including financial activities, reporting, and forecasting.

  • Help secure funding, from grants/subsidies as well as private investors.

  • Help develop the business strategy and models.

  • Develop visual materials, marketing and PR strategies.

  • Follow trends and developments in the medical device, diagnostics and health-tech industries to help guide product development and market positioning.

We expect you to have:

  • An entrepreneurial and result-focused mindset with a strong drive and a doer approach.

  • Experience in management and/or product development in an SME, preferably in the field of medical devices, diagnostics, health-tech industry or similar.

  • Good planning and prioritization of day-to-day operations, ensuring efficiency and scalability.

  • Great communication skills in English and, preferably, also Swedish.

  • Interpersonal skills and flexibility suited for a small and dynamic startup.

  • The possibility to regularly commute to Stockholm, but not necessarily on a daily basis.

Meriting skills include:

  • Experience in a deep-tech start-up, preferably in a central role.

  • Familiarity with regulatory medtech standards (CE-marking, ISO-13485, MDR, FDA) and/or clinical validation requirements.

  • Experience in industrial design, product manufacturing, and supply chain management.

  • Proven leadership and problem-solving skills.

If you are ready to make a significant impact in revolutionizing diagnostics and health tech, apply now to join our passionate team!

We believe in diversity and therefore welcome all applicants regardless of gender, background, orientation, and beliefs. Applicants will be evaluated on a rolling basis, so do not wait to apply!

About the company

Samplimy Medical AB is currently supported by STING, KTH Innovation, Almi and Vinnova, and thus receiving extensive support from in-house business development coaches as well as additional support such as legal and patent counseling, proof-of-concept funding schemes, access to industry, mentoring, and investor networks.

We are developing two microneedle-based products for collection of biofluid samples from the skin in a minimally invasive manner. Our technologies (two patents pending in EU and USA) enable self-sampling, using devices that extract, measure the volume, and store the sample in a stable form. The obtained samples can then be shipped to a laboratory for analysis without the need for refrigeration or be treated as biohazardous, substantially simplifying the logistics.

We have already successfully tested two product prototypes to obtain and analyze patient samples and we have published a study with the ISF sampling device (https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/adhm.202202564) We are currently in the process of publishing the results in a scientific journal also for the blood-sampling device and we have several ongoing clinical validation projects in collaboration with a set of partners and early paying customers.

Samplimy is set to operate and expand within a large worldwide multi-billion-dollar market bridging blood sampling, PoC diagnostics, and homecare, with possibilities to diversify and extend its offer to various aspects of point-of-care sampling and testing.
