We are searching for an experienced and motivated Project Architect to join our team for a major capital project in Northern Germany.

About the job
As part of the Civil, Structural, Architectural Northvolt design team, you will be the Architect supporting ongoing and new projects of our battery factory. Built in multiple phases over 5+ years, the factory represents a multi-billion Euro investment project.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Prepare and review architectural design philosophy and implementation.
  • Review technical data for process equipment and facilitate handover and start-up.
  • Coordinate architectural design requirements among multiple disciplines, stakeholders, Design Team, and Consultants.
  • Independently review architectural, structural, and civil engineering drawings to communicate intent effectively.
  • Participate in Design Team and Construction meetings, ensuring timely, safe, efficient, and high-quality deliverables.
  • Provide technical support, resolve queries, and oversee procurement, construction, and commissioning.
  • Develop architectural maintenance and operational procedures, attending BIM/model and 2D drawing reviews.
  • Establish and review all architectural design and CSA procedures and specifications, including documentation and ensure compliance with Northvolt policies, regulations, and governance.

The candidate we are looking for will have experience with drawing software, preferably AutoCAD and will be responsible for the design of operator/welfare facilities, facades, functional elements like doors and windows, and calculations for thermal energy efficiency. Additionally, your expertise will extend to the design of personnel access and egress, the flow of maintenance vehicles, and incorporating fire protection details that align with safety standards. Evaluation of both internal and external acoustic requirements, including the building's external fabric and integration of HVAC, pipework, and electrical systems, is also part of the skill set.

Skills & Requirements

We believe that you have:

  • A graduate degree in Architectural Engineering, as well as extensive experience in Advanced Manufacturing, Life Sciences or in a similar industry
  • Professional registration - Chartered Architectural/Structural Engineer (or equivalent)
  • Experience in designing industrial buildings in accordance with European and German codes and safety standards, from concept to basic and detailed design
  • Brownfield and greenfield project exposure would be highly advantageous
  • Fluency in English (other languages, especially German would be beneficial)
  • Excellent communication skills for interaction with team members, contractors, and authorities
  • A strong work ethic, multitasking ability, analytical skills, and attention to detail
  • "Can-do" attitude, entrepreneurial spirit, and ability to work well independently and in team environments
