About the job

The Construction Health & Safety Manager is responsible to establish and maintain a world class safety performance on the construction site. They work closely with the project team and the EPCM contractors to ensure we meet our ambitious Health & Safety targets.

About the team

You will be part of the Northvolt project team of about 80 employees that will have the overall responsibility of this mega project based in Heide, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Drive a worldclass safety on the construction site ensuring everyone comes home safely.
  • Ensure effective contractor management towards Health and Safety.
  • Foster an appropriate level of awareness, knowledge, and preparedness.
  • Ensure compliance with internal and external policies and statutory requirements.
  • Ensure that all HSE-related incidents and accidents are investigated, and the defined corrective and preventive actions are implemented.
  • Report on status and key performance indicators to different management levels.
  • Work with external parties and authorities.

In addition to these requirements, we expect a strong commitment to ethical conduct and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. You should be able to work effectively under pressure and prioritize tasks effectively. You should be able to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, from front-line employees to senior management. You should be able to adapt to changing situations and provide effective solutions to HSE-related challenges.

Skills & Requirements

We believe that you have:

  • A university (or advanced) degree in a relevant field and relevant qualification
  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience in HSE management in the construction industry
  • Proven track record in large-scale projects
  • Strong knowledge of best-in-class approach to health and safety.
  • Strong knowledge of German and international HSE regulations and requirements applicable to the construction industry
  • Experience with incident investigation and root cause analysis
  • German, English; any other European language is a plus
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with the construction team to ensure project success
