We are looking for a dedicated Mechanical Engineer to join us in our mission to contribute to a greener future. The role is a part of our passionate Workshop team based in Skellefteå. By joining us, you will be a key player in contributing to building one of the first large scale European battery factories.

About the job
As a Mechanical Engineer at Northvolt, you will be responsible for leading the full lifecycle product development process, from conceptualization to production. You will design systems and components that meet the needs and requirements of our customers, produce layout and component designs, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project execution. Additionally, you will contribute to the maintenance of a safe working environment and provide training to others in maintenance-specific tasks as required.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Lead the full lifecycle product development process, including research, design, development, testing, and approval of mechanical devices, tools, equipment, and machinery.
  • Design systems and components that meet the needs and requirements of customers, ensuring functionality, reliability, and efficiency.
  • Produce factory layouts, mechanical component designs, and assembly blueprints to guide manufacturing processes.
  • Collaborate with project managers to properly allocate and track resources for project execution, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
  • Standardize and improve maintenance activities to optimize equipment performance and reliability.

Skills & Requirements

We believe that you have :

  • Bachelor Degree in related engineering fields
  • Min. 3 years of work experience in related industry
  • Fluency in English
  • Excellent MS Office knowledge (pivot tables, graphics, etc)
  • Excellent ability in use of 2D & 3D Cad software

Bonus points for:

  • Experience and interest in manufacturing industry
  • Fluency in other languages (Japanese, Swedish, Chinese, French)
  • Experience from a multi-cultural environment
  • Ability to have a deep understanding of the Li-Ion battery manufacturing process
