Job Description

We are actively searching for a Design System Specialist who is deeply passionate about crafting visually stunning and highly scalable design systems. In this pivotal role at Above, you will be instrumental in shaping the future of our clients' products, ensuring a cohesive and user-centric experience across their diverse range of services.

About the position

• Lead the creation and implementation of comprehensive design systems that cater to the needs of complex enterprise systems.
• Work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including UX/UI designers, developers, and product managers, to ensure a seamless and efficient user experience across all platforms.
• Supporting junior designers and interns
• Establish and uphold design guidelines, best practices, and standards to maintain consistency and quality.
• Develop design concepts from scratch but also assist other visual designers in systemise their designs to make sure decisions can scale at large.
• Develop and manage design tokens and automation processes to enhance workflow efficiency and team collaboration.
• Actively evaluate and refine the design system to meet evolving user requirements and technological advancements.
• Advocate for design system methodologies within the client's organisation, mentoring team members and promoting a culture of design innovation.
• Champion and promote accessibility by integrating inclusive design principles and ensuring design systems meet or exceeds accessibility standards.

Who we're looking for

• A visual design expert with a strong portfolio that demonstrates your skill and experience in developing large-scale design systems.
• A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, particularly in creating and evolving design systems for complex enterprise environments.
• Expert in Figma and familiarity with tools like GitHub, Supernova, or similar.
• A deep understanding of automation tools, design token structure, and their integration into design workflows.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, capable of engaging effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
• A strategic thinker with a problem-solving mindset, adept at translating business needs into creative design solutions.
