Job Description

This role requires a clinical nurse to operate within the Labor and Delivery unit of the 35th Medical group on Misawa Air Base, Japan. The services performed will include; Antepartum, Labor & Delivery, Postpartum and Neonatal via Rooming-in or Nursery. This is a key-role within the hospital and considered to be “Mission Essential Personnel”. The role does NOT require the nurse to be on-call. Shifts will alternate quarterly between day-shifts (0600-1800) and night-shifts (1800-0600). Professional Liability Responsibility and Medical Malpractice insurance is covered by the government at no cost. Recertifications for BLS, ACLS and NRP will be provided by the government at no cost. The nurse shall competently perform all tasks ensuring all objectives are met; documentation produced is legible, timely, accurate, medically consistent, professionally written, and all patient identifying information is protected.

Skills & Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

Experience: Minimum of one (1) year experience as an inpatient labor and delivery nurse is required. Experience with postpartum and newborn nursery is highly recommended. All experience should be within the last 5 years.

Education: Must have a bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) from an accredited national nursing accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Maintenance of Basic Life Support (BLS) is mandatory. The completion of Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification and Neonatal Resuscitation Certification (NRP) is mandatory

Licensure: Possess and maintain an active; current (not revoked, suspended, or lapsed); valid and unrestricted license from a U.S. jurisdiction as a Registered Nurse (RN). All licenses must be unencumbered and remain in effect during employment. Must be in good standing, and under no restrictions, with the state licensure board in any state in which a license is held or has been held within the last 10 years.
