We are looking for an experienced Procurement Specialist to join us in our mission to contribute to a greener future. The role is a part of our excellent Construction Purchasing team based in Heide. By joining us, you will be a key player in establishing/ramping up and contribute to building one of the first large scale European battery factories.

About the job

As a Purchasing Specialist you will be a part of the Construction Procurement team, following our contracting strategy. You will be responsible for the Northvolt direct purchases of supply and services in all phases of tendering and supporting the post-award activities with the construction and technical responsible for the assigned packages. After handover to Operations the Purchasing Specialist will support any required adjustment and exchange of equipment and/or follow up of services with the suppliers of the packages.

About the team -

You will be part of the Project team located in Germany, of about 50 employees working with several functions, such as: construction, engineering and project management.

The office is currently located in Hamburg with an outreach to Heide, Schleswig-Holstein where the giga-factory will be built. Please don’t apply if you are not willing to move to site.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Overall responsible for activities concerning sourcing, negotiating and managing suppliers of construction services, machinery and material
  • Prepare and keep an up-to-date procurement plan in coordination with the construction team and according to the construction schedule
  • Leads procurement of the major packages with the support from the Category Management team
  • Evaluate suppliers in quality, sustainability, volume and deliverables
  • Manage procurement according to cost-plan and budget

Skills & Requirements

We believe that you have :

  • A degree in Engineering, MSc or MBA/Relevant University Degree
  • Experience from working with procurement of services and contractors within European Supply Chain Law
  • Excellent in communication in German and English, written and spoken
  • Experience from working with procurement in construction field or disciplines indirect to construction

Bonus points for:

  • Experience in working with Construction management companies and/or in the manufacturing industry
  • Experience from a multi-cultural environment
