We are looking for a passionate Process Safety Engineer to join us in our mission to contribute to a greener future.

You will be part of the Project Engineering team that will drive the design of our new battery factory in Heide, Germany. The factory is built in multiple phases over 5+ years the factory represents a multi-billion Euro investment project. Together with your colleagues from the Program team you will ensure we have a safe design.

About the job
Overall responsibility to ensure the safety and efficiency of the industrial processes in the NV3 factory design during all design phases.

About the team
You will be a part of the Engineering team based on site in Heide. You together will the team will be expected to provide the technical expertise to challenge and optimise the safety of the design. You will report to the HSE Design Manager.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Champion a culture of Process Safety excellence.
  • Manage and conduct the HAZOP program, as well as track and assist with any resulting recommendations.
  • Supervise the application of Process Safety elements as per project development stages.
  • Perform risk analysis and coach others on the use of risk analysis techniques.
  • Provide project support, including support for process engineering to the full development of process packages, application of modelling software, and design of relief devices.
  • Collaborate with teams to discover and implement long-term process improvement efforts.
  • Perform audit of process safety management systems and execute risk mitigation corrective actions

The person we are looking for got great communication skills as you will have constant interaction with team members and external parties such as contractors, vendors, authorities, and auditors. Got a high work ethic, multi-tasker, strong analytical ability and attention to details, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

Skills & Requirements

We believe that you have:

  • A bachelors or master’s in process or mechanical engineering
  • Certification such as the Certified Safety Professional (CSP), the Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST), and Associate Safety Professional (ASP)
  • Minimum of 10-15 years experience in Advanced Manufacturing or similar industry.
  • Solid understanding of process safety elements, practical knowledge leading hazard assessments and exposure to industry API Codes and Standards
  • Familiar with Management of Change (MOC), Risk Management, and Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) risk assessments
  • Fluency in English
  • Computer literacy (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
