Startup Partner:Cross Switch

Cross Switch is a fast-growing fintech company based in Luxembourg, founded in 2021. We are at the centre of the constantly evolving fintech industry, reinventing payments, banking solutions, and money. Our focus is on our Africa rollout, and we combine two synergistic strategies:

  • Cross Switch Payments : a specialist provider of local and cross-border payment solutions for digital merchants and customers in Africa or those looking to access high-growth African markets.
  • Cross Switch Technology : providing technology solutions to financial institutions and payments companies in Africa.

Engagement Description

Cross Switch is looking for an experienced candidate to head up Cross Switch’s finance functions on the African continent, including accounting, financial reporting, tax, financial planning and analysis and treasury.

Responsibilities:

General

  • Oversee all finance-related activities for the Company in Ghana.
  • Lead financial planning and analysis by developing systems to produce forecasts and reports, managing the Company's budget and forecasting processes with consistent policies.
  • Oversee financial audit processes, ensuring local entities prepare and report as required.
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial statements are prepared each month by each Group business and reported to the CEO and Board of Directors.
  • Lead, develop, and monitor accounting and tax functions and policies within the Region, ensuring processes are consistent and efficient, books are closed in a timely manner, filings are made on time, and internal controls over financial reporting are comprehensive and working as designed.
  • Manage the Group's tax structuring and planning, working closely with tax advisors, General Counsel, and other key personnel to ensure tax structures are effective and efficient.
  • Communicate the Group's vision to stakeholders, enhancing credibility with shareholders, analysts, the press, and the financial community.
  • Recruit finance professionals, motivate and develop departmental staff, and work with the Group's HR department and senior management to ensure appropriate employee review, incentivization, and retention policies.

Payment activities

  • Manage payment business remittance and reconciliation processes across the region.
  • Manage payment reporting for customers and partners.
  • Participate in payments partner and commercial negotiations.
  • Ensure that policies are in place to track agreed terms with customers and partners and that systems align with financial terms and payment timing.

Investments and fundraising

  • Participating in the company's fundraising activities.
  • Managing investor relations, including communicating with existing and prospective investors, and providing necessary financial data and updates.
  • Managing financial due diligence, underwriting, and investment activities related to potential investments, acquisitions, joint ventures, and/or mergers of interests.

Reports to: CEO, Cross Switch Ghana

Skills & Requirements

  • Over 10 years of experience in the financial industry, both in domestic and international markets, with extensive treasury and financial product development experience. Experience with fintech/start-ups is desirable.
  • Strong business acumen, with hands-on experience in detailed budgeting, resource planning, modeling, and sensitivity analysis.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize effectively.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize internal and external reporting deadlines, group business initiatives, product development, and investor relationships.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Exceptional analytical and organizational skills.
  • Strong executive presence with a desire to further develop financial and commercial skills and management abilities.
  • Confident and enjoys working autonomously.
  • Dynamic and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to interact with colleagues and third parties at all levels of seniority.
  • Demonstrated ability to present information effectively and in a timely manner to senior management.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Fluent in English, with French language skills being an advantage.
  • Planning, project management, and change management skills.
  • Demonstrates a high level of objectivity, integrity, motivation, team orientation, professionalism, and trustworthiness.
  • Accounting degree required, MBA preferred.
